    Imagine ten years ago you'd be hearing a U.S. president having this conversation...

    This is why trump prefers to discuss whether calling it the Chinese Flu is right or wrong... it spares him having to discuss test kits and ventilators...

    Yes, young people, FREDOM 'MERICA! people, Trump, Biden(called Euro travel ban Xenophobia when Trump enacted it), Pelosi (same as Biden), plenty of folks on the left, plenty of folks on the right, to blame.... BUT... the most blame should go to China and the CCP. They are a scourge on this planet and it's inhabitants.

    Biden and Pelosi? There's no evidence that the "travel ban" with China had any impact even. It wasn't a travel ban, because plenty of americans were allowed to return and did not quarantine, and China had already enacted it's own travel ban, plus airlines had already discontinued flights.

    So really, it was just a PR move by Trump, because by the time it was implemented, 300,000 Chinese had already entered the US and spread whatever it was to the country.

    A man who is more interested in labeling the virus the "China Virus" rather than working with the Chinese to stop the spread is the real scourge of the country. We need to take action now and worry about the Chinese later.

    As for the young stupid people going to beaches and not taking it seriously - who told them this was a hoax and not a big deal? Biden? Pelosi? No, it was your wonderful leader, Trump.

    I didn't notice so many people calling the ban xenophobia, but did notice that people pointed out that excluding Ireland and the UK didn't make sense. That was changed.

    But Trump's closing the office of Pandemic response in 2018 and getting rid of those personnel was a huge problem. We could have been prepared, and been ahead of the game. Imagine if we had the tests we needed early on to find and isolate cases, this might have been better. The blame goes to Trump and what he did and didn't do.

    It wasn't Pelosi, Biden or others that were calling the pandemic a hoax. That was Donald Trump.

    China not telling folks could have helped, but it wouldn't have stopped the virus from arriving here.

    This is happening. From Defense One, which is not a “fake news” source. I’ve looked at it on occasion for years.

    Here’s a brief list of Chinese diplomats who are sharing a conspiracy theory on Twitter in what appears to be a coordinated campaign of disinformation — spreading a lie that the U.S. created the coronavirus in a military laboratory at Fort Detrick, Md.:

    • Zhao Lijian, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman who seems to have initially tweeted this conspiracy last Thursday; his tweet was then shared by multiple diplomats and embassies, including—
    • Lin Songtian, Chinese ambassador to South Africa;
    • Lijian Zhao, Ambassador to the Maldives;
    • Zhao Yanbo, Ambassador to Botswana;
    • Quan Liu, Ambassador to Suriname;
    • Chang Hua, Ambassador to Iran;
    • Wang Xianfeng, press officer to the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan;
    • the Twitter account for China’s Embassy to France;
    • China’s Embassy in Manila;
    • Embassy in Jordan;
    • Embassy in Chad;
    • Embassy in Uganda;
    • and the Twitter account for China’s Embassy in Cameroon.
    One takeaway from all the conspiracy sharing: It would sure seem that “more people inside the MFA [China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs] are seeing this kind of stuff as a good career move,” tweeted Matt Schrader, China analyst at the U.S.-based think tank, Alliance for Securing Democracy.

    Another POV: “Chinese party-state [is] taking a page out of Russia’s info ops playbook, using their Ambassadors’ @Twitter accounts for a coordinated disinfo operation,” tweeted Laura Rosenberger, who directs the Alliance for Securing Democracy. “The party-state is waging an info war using COVID-19, and using this moment to try new methods.”

    By the numbers: Confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States: 4,482 (86 deaths), per NYT. Yesterday: 3,494. One week ago: 932. Two weeks ago: 85. Three weeks ago: 14.

    From the same source and very interesting:

    upload_2020-3-18_12-38-58.png

    The U.S. Air Force quietly flew 500,000 COVID-19 testing kits from Italy to Memphis, Tennessee, on Monday, Defense One has learned.

    Gen. Dave Goldfein, the Air Force chief of staff, confirmed that military cargo planes were moving coronavirus testing kits, but did not give specific details during a Wednesday briefing at the Pentagon.

    The mission was flown by a C-17 cargo plane using the call “Reach 911,” which landed early Tuesday morning at Memphis International Airport, a major FedEx hub. Shipping the kits to Memphis allows them to be quickly transferred to commercial aircraft and distributed around the country, according to people familiar with the mission.

    A photo posted to Instagram on Tuesday shows a C-17 filled with pallets loaded with the test kits, captioned by a user who said he was part of the air crew. The user who posted the picture has since deleted it, but Defense One has verified its authenticity.

    Goldfein acknowledged the Air Force is “moving test kits all in support of Homeland Security [and] Health and Human Services to make sure that we’re meeting the demands that they have.”

    While Goldfein did give specific details of the flight, sources, social media posts and public flight tracking data gave a glimpse into the mission, which began early Monday afternoon at Aviano Air Base in Italy and ended just after 1 a.m. local time in Memphis.

    Similar missions are expected in the coming days as the military ramps up its supportfor pandemic-response efforts.

    The Air Force declined to comment and the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the White House did not respond to requests for comment.[IMG]

    That's the thing... ya'll never notice. Very convenient. Notice the difference in words and tone between Biden and Sanders. I prefer Sanders tough, honest, non-partisan, approach. Biden is a political scumbag just like Trump.

    Trump - "HUGE PROBLEM"
    China - "could have helped"

    That's your problem right there. Your perspective and now your judgement is facked. You need an enemy, which is fine, but you've chosen the wrong one. Much worse, you need a hero when there are none.

    With all due respect, you are a fool. I would use stronger language, but I’m trying to be polite. It’s my “Coronavirus” resolution. It doesn’t apply to that ****ing dangerous madman, trump, and his minions, though.

    I was wondering.. why not take military planes and go pick up test kits... glad that is happening. This does not need to stay quiet.. it show that the US gov is thinking of all option. We have to fill in the gap while our test sites ramp up.

    We do not need this at this time.... this seed started weeks or even months ago when Russian propaganda pushed that the US military was responsible.... and when one of our own senator wondered out loud about Chinese military lab.

    Childish back and forth. Stick to science.

    I did see it. Biden talked about Travel restrictions based on favoritism which is exactly what I mentioned. The problem isn't that there was a restriction but that certain countries which had Trump resorts weren't on the initial ban. Biden was also correct in mentioning that it wouldn't stop the virus but it might slow it.

    Biden's mention of xenophobia was also appropriate especially in light of the increase of racist incidents against people of Asian decent in our nation.

    Both Biden and Sanders were correct. Neither of them claimed the travel ban was bad, but Biden pointed out that making one based on favoritism was wrong.

    Biden is not anything like Trump.

    George Conway is 1/2 Filipino. I wonder what his thoughts are given his consistent criticism of Trump.
