The problem is that Donald Trump has 50 years of perfecting his con-artist-ing and bending people to his will, which is essential to pulling off this whole alternative reality thing. He's a unique entity that he's extremely popular despite his whole life being a fraud. Dwayne Johnson, unfortunately (or fortunately!), hasn't demonstrated those skiils.
He inherited his money, he surrounded himself with sycophants who wanted some of it, they schemed his popularity through PR and lawyers. They insulated him from the failures and trumpeted his successes. Then the right wing media machine saw an anthesis to Mr. Obama, whom they hated, and built an image 'empire' around him. They promoted reaction over rationality, reaction against a black President which represented the loss of supremecy for a whole lot of white people. The rest is now history.

Yep Trump himself and his movement is going to linger. That people are now talking secession shows the depth of this support. Even if Trump himself becomes irrelevant there likely will be another who takes the MAGA mantle and runs on a similar platform.

I don't see any elected officials sounding off about seceding in your article. So you are comparing apples to oranges it seems to me? Esp. after 106 congress representatives decided to betray their oath to the constitution (and our democratic republic that is enshrined in it) - they said "let us use a threshold legal argument in order to subvert principles of democracy, federalism and lawful election proceedings at the last moment and thereby opportunistically disenfranchise FOUR STATES of their presidential election's votes and sawing seeds of a political crisis of the type of proportions second only to the previous civil war. I think your #whataboutism is misplaced.
