Forgive me for know not what I say. But what is the point of tariffs?? To create more production in the US & jobs? If that is the case what I have been learning about trade in economics in school the last 10 years sure seems like it will increase prices in the long run even if successful. The formulas I have learned are simple. You want to buy low cost goods from other countries and make more expensive goods. That's what I learned but I 1000% no expert in the matter.
Tariffs are good if you pair the Tariffs with strict made in america rules + subsidies to help onshore the products. Biden admin put heavy tariffs on Chinese solar panels but at the same time passed incentives for manufacturers to make them in usa and it worked The issue about trump Tariffs is theyre just braindead and there's no strategy behind them
