No.... he looks for people that tell him what he wants to hear and that is what he does. He also surrounds himself with questionable advisers that will tell him what makes him feel good and not the best enlightened information. He has gotten rid of the people around him that tell him their real opinions and the truth and that is largely why he is in the position he is in... as a hugely unpopular President with a string of failures and a pandemic that the rest of the first world has under control but he doesn’t. That is all on him and based on his ego and decisions he has made.
FWIW the overwhelming majority of COVID strains in the USA have been the mutated ones from Europe. Did he stop travel from Europe at the same time? Did he insist on the thousands of Americans returning from China be tested and quarantined? No he didnt.
Most of Europe and East Asia got this under control. That's the most depressing thread to this narrative.
