This is exactly right. The Republicans have used division as a tool to gain back political power in Washington while at the same time sticking the divisive label onto the Democrats. Trump simply took this mechanism and amped it up to a 10 and it's scary how well it's worked.

There were some articles out recently about how fear is more powerful than the opposite, if you believe in evolution. Like if you believe a lie such as "Hey, that animal is going to hurt you!" that's more useful than believing a lie such as "Don't worry: that animal will not hurt you!" The people who are controlled by fear, even wrongly, may survive more than the people who do not respond to fear.

I don't think you're joking or wrong, I'm aware of reality and I hope you don't think that post had any slant otherwise. Call SOME PEOPLE out when necessary. The political left called out everyone in the aforementioned category for everything, every time, right or wrong and outrage seems to be a self propelling process.

I don't see how that's a productive stance or one so widely ascribed to. If you want support, changed minds, progress etc and think it's going to come through deriding others you're just not very thoughtful. Frankly if you think it had no impact on this election you're willfully ignoring the obvious.

I am not happy about trump, nor would I have been for Hillary. By break the walls down I didn't mean one side. I meant everyone, drop the charade and get over it. Some people look different, act different, are different. 2 people just ran presidential campaigns on preying on your fears over the other.

There's another way. It sounds trite but I'd bet my last dollar it wouldn't end up with a crook or douche at the helms in 4 years. Unite.

Trump won because the democrats didn't show up and vote. Plenty of factors - allusion of a landslide, not inspired to vote, Clinton scandals, Bernie got cheated (his voters), etc.

Does anybody honestly believe that if he were eligible for a third term, that Obama would have lost?

Turning this into referendum on the viability of the Democratic Party and it's policies is silly. Just as foolish as all the people around here who were heralding the end of the Republicans after the last two elections.

As much as I find him to be repulsive, it's clear to me that his energy and oversized alpha male persona comes off as very charasmatic for a segment of the public. Much more so than the people who support Hillary view her as having a magnetic personality.
