There are indeed liberal judges and conservative judges. It is an ideology to pretend otherwise. Roberts is upset not because he doesn't realize this, but he doesn't want the public to be upset and thereby disrespect the next time the court rules in in an important case to uphold corporate power or squash democratic rule by the rabble who did not attend Harvard or Yale.

He isn’t stupid. He fully realize the gamut of left to right lending within judges. What he is saying is there aren’t judges that work for Obama or bush or trump or any person or party, and that the judicial is an independent branch. Standard stuff for people who get confuses these days easily. Dear leader is also projecting here. Often what he accuse of others are what his mind is already saying he should be doing. He is trying to install trump judges. Not lending this or that way, but loyal to him.
