Well nothing is permanent, Congress can choose to raise taxes on corporations which needs to be done to "balance the budget."
Yea, absolutely. But that does take an act of Congress. Increasing taxes of any kind is extremely hard unless republicans are on board.
"Democrats pushed for McConnell to hold a full vote on the measure as soon as possible, but McConnell was vague about his plans in remarks on the Senate floor. He noted that Trump, who had voiced his displeasure with the size of the direct checks in the Covid-19 relief bill passed last week, has called for more scrutiny of the 2020 election and stripping liability protections from major tech companies in addition to the increased payments for struggling Americans." Mitch as always wants to throw in protection for his corporate masters. I'm a hard no for that...
Show me where corporate tax cuts translate to trickle down economics working? https://www.lse.ac.uk/News/Latest-news-from-LSE/2020/L-December/Tax-cuts-for-the-rich
That the Democrats put forward in a bill months ago? Now they're Trumpers... "There have been several proposals floating around Congress to provide Americans with financial relief in light of the economic impact caused by coronavirus. The most widely circulated was the Emergency Money for the People Act introduced by Tim Ryan and Ro Khanna. Their proposal would have provided additional and ongoing payments with qualifying Americans receiving a $2,000 monthly payment for up to 12 months. Eligibility for the $2,000 stimulus check would depend on age, filing status, and income." - April 2020
But they are all stupid Euros who live in smaller countries with all together a slightly larger population or Canada which is just as large as us, but with a smaller population so they don't account either. American exceptionalism. Just shitty exceptionalism with more deaths and not a better economy.
Frankly I don't know for sure, but doubt that it is in the Constitution that an ahole McConnel elected from one state is supposed to have the power to prevent a vote to even be taken on a bill passed by the other House and supported by the President and polling 78% per the polls. And BTW Congress polls at something like 13% favorable. Another problem with our ancient Constitution, which is for practically purposes non amendable?
And all it takes to turn Trumpers against Trump is the possibility of giving financial aid to those nasty poors!!!
Let me make a couple points. We. Do. Not. Need. Stimulus. The market is on fire. Interest rates keep going down. What we need to do is help people who can not get jobs. Not hand out free money. $2,000 monthly reoccurring payments is not the same as an additional $1400 on top of the $600 one time payment. Now that Trump signed it, its now turned into a demand for a total $2600 handout. Goalposts are all over the place (insert silly meme here). Trumpism, in its simplest form, is a tactic this is nothing more than dividing people to cater to their selfish wants. This is the single reason why I detest Trump the most. Congress agreed to $600, not the nonsense back in April 2020. Trump brought up the $2,000 for the sole purpose to divide Congress. And somehow you think its a great idea to reward Trump with this behavior by passing an additional $2,000.
Poor. People. Need. Help. Is the stimulus mistargeted? Yes. Is Trump using it for his own gain? Yes. $2000 during a once in a lifetime pandemic will not break this country. Republicans are only fiscally conservatives when it serves their own needs. If they would have checked Trump on spending long ago we wouldn't even be looking at this situation. As for the State of Texas: https://www.twc.texas.gov/news/unemployment-rate-81-percent-november "AUSTIN - Texas’ private sector added 65,800 jobs over the month, and the Texas unemployment rate for November was 8.1 percent, up from 6.9 percent in October 2020." Bottom line, stimulus IS needed...
You had no problem to the 2 Trillion dollar handout to the rich and corporations that the Trump tax cuts were. It sure didn't create jobs, it just gave money (tax free) to Corporations, Stockholders, and the Wealthy.
While I’m for UBI, I’m not for a targeted covid relief that isn’t targeted enough to those that truly need it. But it’s better than doing nothing. With that said... If Trump is for M4A, everyone that was once for it becomes a Trumper for continuing to support it? Isn’t that what you are accusing Dem of for sticking to their policy? Weren’t you one of the few around here that argued team politic was toxic? Wouldn’t team politic means Dem that supported higher payment now is against it because Trump supports it?
That's the definition of a cult in general. 1. a group of people showing intense devotion to a cause, person, or work (as a film)
Companies and job providers need an incentive to operate here (i.e. small tax rates). If they operate here, that in turn provide jobs. There was a time companies were outsourcing and moving abroad specifically to avoid big taxes. Tesla and HP are moving to Texas from CA to get away from overreaching, overtaxing, government. That will provide a serious boon in available jobs to Texans.
It was targeted. The continuation of very generous unemployment benefits. (compared to pre-covid). You're throwing out red herrings. Nobody was bemoaning about the $2,000 when Congress initially passed the bill. There was no massive outcry over the $600.00 handout. It wasnt until Trump said he wasn't going to sign unless it was $2,000. Playing into Trumps shitty tactics is the problem, not the supporting the $2,000.
The original 1200 and this new covid check wasn't targeted enough. Anyone below a certain AGI (eg. 150k married) gets it. Covid targeted to me is someone that is impacted + is below some AGI. If your job or income was not impacted by Covid or you can comfortably ride out the impact, you shouldn't get it. If it was meant to stimulate and not just support, then go for some type of UBI for some period of covid time. Red herring is the shift to "Trump shitty tactics" when your original statement was that it only takes 2K to become a Trumper. Again, if someone supported X and Trump now support X, does that mean that someone is a Trumper if they continue to support X? Obviously, no. Massive outcry is irrelevant (70% supports 1.2k or higher while less than 10% thought 600 was enough). The question is did DEM support 2K? The answer is very likely yes as they have been pushing for larger direct payment than what the Trump Admin and GOP wanted since the 1st covid check.
The problem here is that you're the lemming involved in the race over the cliff. The only thing gained by the American economy by Tesla moving to Texas is nothing but higher Tesla profits which as a matter of fact only trickle up. There was a time when American companies paid middle class money and a family could be supported by one wage earner and then the lemmings like you took them over the cliff to greener pastures which were great for the executives and the shareholders but pretty shitty for the Americans that built those companies.
