Trump to declare national emergency to build border wall

Vigil has to understand that Cruz knows exactly what he’s doing by going on Fox&Friends and suggesting this. Cruz isn’t stupid, but he knows the folks that watch Fox&Friends and get their news from it are gullible.

Cruz and the Republicans are just using this whole wall idea to keep that support from the base. There are no actual plans to build a wall; Republican politicians have too much to lose if it actually does get built.

Now they’re hoping that the court battles last until after the election in 2020 so that they can use “The Wall” until the election. Anytime they need a dog whistle, it’ll be there for them, just as it’s been so far.

 

Exactly.

Every President since Reagan (ALL OF THEM) have attempted to expand executive power, and once expanded it does not revert back. Hell, GW, Obama and now Trump have driven a semi through any limitations or separations.

It will require the Courts taking a strong stance and I would not count on that.

 

trump starts off his national emergency speech talking about "wins" he had re: tariffs and meeting with north korea (wait, I thought the south border was an emergency). Then talks about his campaign promise and calls everyone else liars by bragging about the crowds at his El Paso rally (where he lied about the number attending) and lies about how crime went down after the "wall" was built there. Then rambles off his speaking points about caravans, drugs, gangs and human trafficking.

Rambles back into talking about china and tariff deals. Maybe the emergency isn't that important?

 

Now lies about the economy... and says if he had his wall he wouldn't need the "talent" he has sitting in front of him. Then rambles into police, border patrol, ice and says they wouldn't be needed as much but blames Democrats for wanting to get rid of ice. I know, he is confused and confusing...

Now rambling about all the money he is getting, and building a lot of wall. But renovating, and running out of places to renovate. And needs more walls.

 

Rambles on about the courts and then stumbles through a discussion of the "ban" and how he won. And mentions a "virtual invasion". Then ends on MS13 and gangs. And how he is always prepared for questions.

This is how he came in front of the American people to justify his abusing the national emergency powers to get his vanity wall built.

 

"I've done a lot of the wall for the election." He literally just said that...

He has spent more time talking about the china tariff deal (and whining about he is criticized by Democrats) than he has about the national emergency he just declared to get his vanity wall.

I didn't know this. It doesn't make any sense to have an emergency that applies for decades. The whole point of the emergency is that events move too fast for Congress' deliberative process. This structure probably needs some reform. I'd give it 12 months before expiry. If Congress can't handle it in normal course of business in 12 months, they don't think its an emergency.

 

Two straight questions that challenge his use of stats on border crossings, drugs into the U.S. and violent crime at border... and where he gets the data since the data from DEA and Border Patrol directly contradicts what he says. He blusters many sources" including Homeland Security and blurts out nielsen's name.

I've said it in the past and I'll say it again. The courts will fight it.

Still... The president does have the responsibility to defend our borders from threats, which includes masses of people who don't intent to follow our laws regarding entry and intend to take advantage of our country. Quite frankly Trump has a mandate from the election he won (without Russian help acording to a bipartisan investigation so enough of that crap eh?).

Build it.
