I agree that fixing some of the rules of the insurance marketplace will help, and I think the balkanized state-level marketplaces are a problem (@FranchiseBlade, I don't think we'd want to be able to buy some other state's insurance, we'd want to have a single national market which would be more liquid and have less bureaucratic drag than 50 little markets). But the way conservatives cite it as a panacea is crazy. The marketplace is going to need many such reforms before capitalism is going to swoop in and save the day.

...you know this sounds too much like socialism to be a good idea, right?;)

...it's already been said that back when America was great, the way we handled health care was letting the sick who couldn't afford treatment die off like natural selection and the founding fathers always intended....:D

I agree about a national plan. I was just trying to make sure I understand what people are arguing for when they talk about insurance across state lines

President Obama and Democrats house and senate did not fix the current immigration law or even amnesty in the first 2 years as well.

Right, GOP couldn't get a deal done when they controlled Congress.

They also didn't whine about it and make it a top issue while punting on it when it mattered.

Not really what i mean... Insurance should ideally let you see a doctor whereever you are. That would have to be reformed.

Yeah, a plan that allows everyone the same access to doctors everywhere. Not sure how we could ever pull that off.

Well, Schumer did shut down the government over it. Obama did do DACA.

Democrats did completely miss the boat on passing the Dream Act despite some Republican support. It was and is embarrassing.

Shame on republicans (other than the one co-sponsor), who should never accuse a Democrat president of executive overreach...

Not so fast, some House Republicans are expressing concerns because they haven't had time to read this bill or "mark it up"

I’ve lived in Texas and “business friendly” is GOP code for taking advantage of illegal immigration. GOP simultenously taking advantage of illegal immigrants while blasting them has been their MO.

The bigger sin is the GOP position of the rules being for you, not them. The Dems having failed on such matters as DACA is inconsequential compared to overall immigration reform.

Trump literally has to usurp Congress because the GOP couldn’t compromise when they had power. Cynically, is there a rush to solve an issue that has been so important for their support?
