So the argument is that drugs SOLELY enter at a port of entry? How would one know this?

That would be fair. Though we might disagree on who was using them and who was sending them aid. I don't mind people aiding them because if someone is willing to walk 1,500 miles for a chance to live in the United States, I won't object to folks that want to provide humanitarian support.

If it only for people who are using them without their knowledge, then we would probably agree.

Not seeing where you are reading that. But in the instance that hannity was tweeting about it happened at a port of entry. As did the case that trump tweeted about previously. Which makes sense, since according to US Customers and Border Patrol vast majority of serious drugs (heroin, cocaine, meph, and fentanyl) come through ports of entry:

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...ugs-crossing-southern-border-wall/2591279002/

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-wall-wont-stop-drugs-dea-agent-224325899.html

Now, if you want to argue with US Customs, the Border Patrol, and the DEA on this... knock yourself out.

Where’s the outrage for the billions wasted on the cancelled high speed rail project in Cali with nothing in return?

Cali is just one big disappointment. The people there really don't care about the billions wasted because they are hedonistic and too busy seeking pleasure in the moment. They lack the mental capacity to connect a failed project to their taxes and wallets.

The sad part is it’s American tax dollars and you’re right none of them cared but now they do about money spent on a needed barrier because their party says so. Talk about blind leading the blind.

Statistics have shown that less than 0.5% of these caravan members qualify for asylum. That's 1/200.

Many of them are NOT going thru the ports of entry , they are attempting to cross illegally and only when they are caught do they seek asylum.
As I've stated multiple times in this thread , I have two friends who are BP agents - they catch over a thousand a day in their sector alone (Harlingen) attempting to cross illegally and every one of them begs asylum after being caught. They don't even bother to run anymore … Its "Oh , you got me! Asylum! They get processed and if there is room they are detained , if not they get set free In America with a notice to appear which only a small percentage show up for. (those the gubmint keeps telling you the majority show up are visa overstays).

Its not bad that they want to be part of America but taking them in in such massive numbers as have come in illegally over the last 3+ decades has done harm to American citizens. Wages have been depressed , these people are in direct competition for jobs with the working poor not to mention the demand the increased numbers put on literally everything in modern life from food / housing to schools and healthcare.
Entire industries of Americans have been priced out of the market - think of residential home construction in Texas ….

This is a good article on who the problem is …. those that hire the illegal labor. Crying about needing the illegal labor … when in reality they are just trying to put greater profits in their pockets by paying them ~30% less than legal labor while they get no safety training and aren't covered by workers comp.

    https://www.fosterglobal.com/news/report_half_of_tx_construction2212013.pdf

The part where they start downplaying the numbers in fields like plumbing and electrical is a farce - I'm a retired MPL and former business owner and have seen first hand illegal labor literally take over the residential construction industry while unscrupulous individuals profit by "selling" them permits. (Acquiring the permits for the illegal labor for a fee).
Competing with illegal labor forced me to change my entire business model …. or go under. I had to leave the actual construction side of the industry in favor of the service side - mostly restaurants and other small businesses on a contract basis. Best move I ever made - I retired 3 years later after selling my book of contracts to a large local company. Great for me as I was able to adapt but many others couldn't compete or adapt. They went under.

The construction industry was one that allowed our parents to put food on the table for many of us …. it was at one time a cross section of America. Not anymore …

The funny part is that these contractors like you to believe that the illegal labor is somehow good for you - It isn't , you aren't getting that home any cheaper , they are pocketing the difference and they fail to tell you that the increased demand on housing by having half a million illegals living in Houston puts a premium on the price. Simple supply and demand.

High speed rail systems connecting major US cities is a much more worthwhile endeavor than a border wall.

Also, the project isn't canceled. It's been scaled down.

Probably where the outrage is for blowing the deficit up during a strong economy...

... until boomers start having entitlement cuts no one will really care.

What statistics show less than 0.5% of migrants are asylum seekers?

Wages being depressed is because labor is global..... American workers aren’t just competing with American workers.... Your issue is really with the negative effects of capitalism.

As for as Texas construction workers go... the party in charge calls the being “Businsss Friendly”.

Oh, I think both sides are using them...so not sure we'd disagree that much. :)

As for the aid, I have zero issue with that. Helping others is what Americans do. The question I have is 'for what purpose'? I think a LOT of ulterior motives are at play, yet all the focus in on the pawns, and not the game.

FWIW...this points to a general flaw in awarding/managing such funding to start with. Where were the safeguards/status/project checks? This strikes me as a good example of where business processes need to be applied to government projects. Tax payer money should be able to be traced to real outcomes (not just services, but outcomes).
