There are, and it's frustrating that it's so late that many of them won't be resolved before the election. There is lots of noise and social media takes on why, and honestly, unless there is evidence that shows some kind of weird (stupidly late) strategy, I chalk most of it up as just that - social media noise.

It seems pretty clear that the NY DAs saw wrongdoings but couldn't agree or figure out a way to "nail" him. Bragg came up with a novice approach, and he succeeded. He did it within a year, which seems pretty fast, tbh (but what do I know about these types of timelines). That approach is that Trump used hush money corruptly to influence the election (the second part needed to push it into felony level). Tying the election to hush money was what a number of analysts said, "Ah, that might not fly," and clearly, this CNN legal analyst didn't like it. Whatever their legal opinion, the jury animously found it beyond a reasonable doubt that he did use hush money corruptly to influence the election.

So, yes, they nailed him. As @Os Trigonum likes to put it, they finally got him, legally, of course. Politically, this doesn't do much because one party has gone completely off the rails, and people in this country are pretty nutzies.

Nearly everyone seems to agree that this verdict in and of itself doesn’t change much votes. And again Trump still has a chance to appeal. So by “non political” I don’t think Bragg thought about this as something that would win the election for Biden. I’m sure he’s smart enough to recognize this has as much a risk of energizing Trump’s base.

He's doing what a DA does. It's his job function to prosecute criminals and get a conviction. He came into the job with an open investigation that was already ~3 years in the running.

I'm not going to guess if it's political or not, or what he thought about how it might influence the election. Maybe one day he will write a memoir and tell us his inner thoughts about it. My take on this is that he did his job and did it well.

Agree. A DA’s job is to prosecute. I’ll again keep on pointing out that Trump ran on and is again promising to go after his political opponents. The Republican Congress spent months investigating “the Biden Crime family”
And threatened to not only impeach Joe Biden but recommend for prosecution him and other family members.

This is exactly why I loathe the ruling elites within the MAGA party. They are saying and doing exactly what they falsely claim elected civilian servants are doing to Trump — conducting political witch hunts and political prosecutions.

Who gets the appeal and what is the timing? Does he have to wait to until sentencing before appealing?
