Political assassination attempts happen often. By themselves they don't say much about the situation of a nation. But the way the right will wepwonize this incident will say a lot about this country.
Someone went to nancy pelosi house, and put a hammer to paul pelosi's face and people laughed about it when trump joked about it. There was a literal gallow and noose erected to hang mike pence on January 6th. Just maybe years of violet rhetoric like "lock her up", "stand by and stand down", or "you will never take back our country with weakness" as political speech is not a a good idea.
It's really awful. We all percolate in a sea of algorithmic hatred, whether it's online or tv, and rhetoric can only get so heated before someone does something like this. We'll learn that the shooter was radicalized by this, that, and the other, and the other radicalizing echo chambers will up the ante.
