He's been pretty liberal but not a hard advocate for its causes, or to maybe be more specific about his political profile, he's a New Yorker. Its really only now that he's run that he's really laid out policy. He's not as hard right as a lot of the other guys who competed against him but a lot of liberals bought their own **** about the things they said about him that they're expecting actual Hitler to be in the White House. This bears repeating. This is why ACA is at it's heart a conservative idea that had been developed by the Heritage foundation in response to the health reform effort in the 1990's. Simply keeping the popular measures that everyone likes without the unpopular stuff that pays for it is going to be unworkable. I think it's a good thing that Trump is backing off complete repeal but there is going to be a lot of wrangling about how to keep whatever permutation of ACA comes out of a Trump presidency and GOP congress. It's likely going to be as complicated and controversial as ACA is now.
