Are you saying those cities dont need to be cleaned up? You should be forced to live in the bad parts of those cities for a week. I bet you would be singing a different tune. I'm just glad Trump's doing what needs to be done. There's not going to be crap done that was done last time he was POTUS. You need to get used to this or you're going to be miserable the next 3 1/2 years.

    The books probably were cooked.

IDK, and hope we dont find out, but if we do we'll cross that bridge when the time comes.

Unfortunately, that happens in every big city in this country, not just DC. There are lots of small cities with two to three times the amount of violence per capita than DC as well. Even lots of kids in schools all across America will be shot and killed this year. People just got gunned down at Target this week in Texas.

Loose gun laws, underfunded police, underfunded social services, lack of free mental healthcare and drug treatment programs, and lack of enough subsidized housing to keep working families, addicts, and other vulnerable folks from going homeless only adds to the problems.

We have a growing generational cycle of kids growing up in poverty, with parents themselves who only know violence or addiction, with no support or mentorship to help them break the cycle. Sending in the National Guard is like putting a tourniquet on to stop the flow of blood. When the tourniquet is removed, the blood will keep flowing. It's like putting Band-Aids on chest wounds. It won't solve the roots of the problems.

You don't get out much it seems.

I'm guessing that if her hair were long you'd probably call it unprofessional or a liability or something similarly stupid.

Bottom line is the DC police are on board with what Trump is doing.

The DC police are on board with what Trump's doing. I hope he succeeds and is allowed to do this in LA/Chicago/New York etc... although I realize that may not be constitutionally correct. The violence needs to end, I'm just glad we're allowed to carry in Texas.

As long as there is nothing done to address the roots of the problems that force people into homelessness, and we can provide everyone affordable healthcare and housing, that won't change. As long as we don't take stronger action on child and domestic abuse, and provide those victims better outlets of escape, they are helpless.

We need to get all these unlicensed guns off the streets, take more priority into going after arms dealers, have stricter gun laws and stricter licensing, to help keep guns out of the hands of kids, mentally ill, druggies, violent people, and thugs. We need more task forces going after these people buying and selling unlicensed guns, and more gang and drug task forces.

We need to provide more intervention and support with social services, mental healthcare, family and child support, more community centers with after school and summer programs with mentors in rough neighborhoods, and so on. But the problems with continue to rise, We have kids growing up safer at school than at home or in their neighborhoods, who are more at risk of being the next crime victim or criminal.

The answer isn't more and more military policing on the streets. The answer isn't ignoring the roots of the problems while acting tough, bringing in tons of soldiers, flexing their guns, and acting like they will end everybody's fears. The roots of the problems will continue to grow.

Unfortunately there's always been about 10-15% of troubled people that cant be helped. Always has been/always will be.

Everybody should be able to carry unless they're mentally unstable. I'm from Texas and trying to take people I know guns is an unbelievably bad idea.

How much more of the social services/mental healthcare stuff do want to have? The last 30-40 yrs there's been more of this type of care than at anytime in our history and things only seem to be getting worse.

Let's see if it works. It worked in LA earlier this yr.
