Trump Orders National Guard Into Washington, Takes Over D.C. Police

The funny thing is Democrats often hold up 1980s/90s Joe Biden as the perfect example of what awful things DINO-ism enables.

Posting all the things Biden said/did that modern Democrats have themselves thoroughly torn apart doesn't 'own the libs' as much as 1) make the left look more honest and sane and 2) make the right look more unhinged and tonedeaf.

 

One thing I agree with is that DC crime is totally out of control.

This is all a ruse to get protests and violence so that he can distract from his failings and so he can grab more power. He has already tried this several times before. The Democrats under value how much freedom many Americans will give up for perceived safety and order, but this goes beyond that. There were 250 homicides in DC in 1982.

DC is on pace for 135 homicides in 2025.

So it is really like comparing apples and oranges.

DC is a lot safer than it was over 40 years ago - then again, America is a lot safer than it was in the early 1980's.

 

Bogota still has serious crime issues - street crimes, armed robberies, break ins all are very common. The police are worthless too. It isn't a hell hole like some claim, and overall I have enjoyed my travels there - but it isn't like Europe or North America.

About 140 officers were injured, including Officer Brian Sicknick, who died the following day. Four officers who responded that day have since died by suicide.

U.S. Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards was knocked out in an early conflict. After regaining consciousness, she returned to serve on the skirmish line alongside Officer Sicknick, whom she saw turning pale after being pepper sprayed.

U.S. Capitol Police Captain Carneysha Mendoza described officers “receiving a lot of gas exposure” and “being knocked to the ground and hit with various objects that were thrown by rioters.” She said, “Of the multitude of events I’ve worked in my nearly 19-year career on the department, this was by far the worst of the worst.”

And Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Officer Daniel Hodges was attacked as he and his unit approached the Capitol on foot. He recovered to help defend the Capitol, where he said one rioter “latched onto my face and got his thumb in my right eye, attempting to gouge it out” then another “grabbed the front of my gas mask and used it to beat my head against a door.”

I feel overall crime is trending down but what is rising in DC among other cities is organized retail theft, a big part of dealing with this is to hold 15-19 YOs more accountable than what is being done now ...literally someone shot someone in the chest with an illegal weapon and ONLY got probation- but yes, homicides are down after looking into the numbers, which is a good thing but more can be done.
