You are comparing the Soviet Union to Panama as a strategic threat? Are you kidding me? Does Panama even have an airforce?

So if Panama elected a gov't hostile to the US, the US should invade and dispose of the gov't? You know that has happened before and it didnt work out so well for the US. And the canal was never at risk. Today, the canal is not at risk.

There's never been a hint of denying US passage of ships through the canal. So why draft a plan? The US invaded before without a plan - as a direct response to an attack, and won handily against a non-existent Panama defense. Why not just use that plan? it worked. Not much has changed.

Why do you need to draft a plan to invade a country that isn't your enemy and is in fact mostly allied to you? Should we have a plan to invade Canada and Mexico? Every country on earth? I mean, most countries have strategic value. Why not be prepared?

You’re the one who asked the question, “why would you draw up a plan if you didn’t intend to use it?” - My answer is people/institutions draw up plans all the time based on various contingencies and simply cited potential cold war plans as an example of that. I was not comparing Panama to the Soviet Union in terms of threat.:rolleyes:. Did I really have to explain that? How old are you? Or are you simply entirely disingenuous/acting in bad faith in every post you make?

There doesn’t need to be an imminent threat to the canal to justify the US having plans to invade Panama and secure the canal. It’s one of the most critical geostrategic locations on the planet. We should have plans to invade and secure the canal if necessary.

I would hope the US has all types of plans prepared with various scenarios in mind around the world.

What makes you think they don’t? You think the only military plans we have are ones mentioned publicly in the press?

Canada hasn't spent 2% of GDP on their military in 37 years.

Most of that time it has been near 1%.

    They are militarily impotent.

They could not defend themselves against the United States if they wanted to.

Easy to talk tough on the internet. If they really perceived themselves as threatened lets see what affirmative steps they take to meet that alleged threat.

It's all just bluster from Trump and Carney.

Bro why are you trying to make corporate executives at Boing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon upset?

Do you not realize this concept of foreign governments not spending enough of on their military is a fake narrative for idiots like you? It's red meat.

Wait.. Wait.. you think if Canada or NATO countries magically cross the 3% threshold, the MAGA administration will actually reduce defense spending? You aren't this hopelessly naive are you?

American capital appreciates that the entire western world is under American protection. Are you that naive not to understand this?

Do mafia bosses get upset when less powerful entities are dependent on their protection? No.. literally the complete opposite. The dynamic gives them more clout, power, wealth etc.

The Western world being reliant on American military might is what allows American hegemonic power.

Why stop at Canada? We could control Santa’s operations if we went a little more north.

One thing is for sure, Trump is making Putin proud of how he and his freak VP are turning their backs on our Western Allies to be more like him. In fact, he's probably hoping we attempt taking control of those countries by force.

Trump always admired Putin. And Russia state news said they will "allow" US to take Canada and Ukraine if the US helps them on Ukraine.

Trump wants to be dictator of the United States. Elon and his technocrat buddies want to transform the world into corporate feudal states ruled by Kings/CEOs. Look up Curtis Yarvin- their paragon philosopher who advocates for the end of democracy toward a centralized, technocratic monarchy.

fElon's net worth is tanking along with TSLA stock price. Trump's approval rating is plummeting.

But its too early to spike the football and celebrate. They still have "home field advantage." Meaning, they control the whole ****ing government.

I can't imagine a scenario Trump and Elon will willingly give up power. Some good (innocent) people will get hurt- it won't be bloodless. But that might be what it takes to turn the tide and have the general public realize what the **** is happening to our country. Eventually the people will need to stand up to authoritarianism.

I was thinking, in a bizarro world where we actually made Canada our 51st state, wouldn’t that be like giving the Dems another even larger California?

They’re really acting like they don’t plan to have future presidential elections, because how are they winning a national election with Canada as a 51st state?

    Am I missing something?

It's not tanking if you want an oligarch pouring his money into supporting a wannabe dictator, with a bunch of other billionaires joining the movement into stripping away our democracy for power and favors.

That adds to his weirdness effect when he opens his mouth to speak. No wonder he has the lowest approval rating of any Vice President in history. He's just a creepy butt kissing weirdo, who likes to dress and try to act like Trump. Trump wears the foundation and Vance wears the eyeliner and mascara.
