Heh. I'm not "young" (although it depends on the context); and yes I have insurance. I rarely use it. In fact, I find myself thinking/wondering whether it's worth it. I'm sure that if I ran the numbers, I would find I'm paying in a whole lot more than I'm using.

 

If this was true, I might agree with you, maybe. But look at the history of the government and medical/social spending. I have no confidence that the government can do this efficiently. Nor do I have confidence that the future program(s) wouldn't drain the coffers even further, and explode the debt even further.

 

I'm sure mostly lucky people have thought about what you're saying in one form or another, but it's something else to stake a position to want to throw it all out entirely without actually cancelling your own policies.
