    I haven't read this thread.

I worked at Goodman Mfg the AC manufacturer based here. They were bought by a Japanese company, Dakin.

Ted Cruz spoke at the opening of their new plant last week.

I worked there last year. I've had to work these general labor jobs the last few years.
The Goodman jobs was one of the better ones. You can walk in off the street and if you last you can pick up some skills

Follow up story on the Carrier jobs deal Trump made... all that money to Carrier to keep and grow U.S. jobs? "To me this was just political, to make it a victory within Trump's campaign, in his eyes that he did something great,"

Trump's Carrier deal is not living up to the hype — jobs still going to Mexico

Trump gave people hope - what a terrible thing to do.

That's an uncharacteristically charitable reading from you.* It seemed to many of us that he gave himself a PR stunt that he knew couldn't really save those jobs for any sort of length of time, as voices at the company soon confirmed.

"This American carnage stops right here, and right now," I guess. Or maybe, "Mission accomplished" would work. That's always a good one.

    * Homework assignment: pretend Obama (ew!) swept into Carrier, made promises, posed for photos, tweeted against dissenting employees from the company, only to see the jobs leave anyway.

He talks about getting america to be great again by manufacturing here. It sounds good to the not so rich hambres supporting the party, but the rich hambres that are in line with trump know that to make a profit it's be$t to leave it to the glorious people's republic to make things.
Nobody is going to want to be paid 2 dollars to assemble a cheap polyester suit that retails at macys. The cheap suit workers are going to form these evil things called unions and fight for a couple of dollars more.

In order to accomplish what he promised the average follower of his, he'd had have to break his own policy of making profit and reward the middle class tax paying americans with what do they call it? a raise? And what's their party's stance on raising minimum wages?

I complained about trump's cheap sweatboxes that pose as suits back in 2006, when I purchased my first one from the signature collection. Steve Harvey has better quality. Thankfully, I have upgraded over the years.

Given what you just posted did he do a bad thing

See my post earlier about jobs like this

There is nothing wrong even if it was just symbolic

This post represents why Democrats are losing to him

There is nothing to complain about

It's easy for you to sit from high when you don't need these type jobs

Well, it appears Trump's jobs "hopes" are having a bad day... should companies ask Trump to not visit?

Layoffs announced at Boeing plant Trump visited

What is being admonished here: people's aspirations for these particular kinds of jobs or Trump's rhetoric to keep jobs here, from going over seas toward low-wage countries?

Not cheering. Reporting. And pointing out that these were major Trump spins to show his effectiveness on the job front. Which apparently wasn't true either. btw, where were you doing the 8 years prior?

Ridiculous. We're calling out Trump for something he did that was stupid, how is that elitist? We're not looking down on him- when we call him out, it's because he does something dumb or wrong. The day that he stops being an idiot, we'll stop.

    What was stupid about this

Policy wise it was a hundred ways to look at it

Gave up some small things to keep a few jobs

Whatever was given up or kept probably means little in your life

Wtf are you so upset about it

The best job outside of Finance I got was a brief stint trying to get into the local plumbing union
If I would have gotten in i would currently be working towards a commercial journeyman license.

    I just fell into it

I worked two summers as a probate apprentice

I worked on the Whole Foods on Post Oak

It's the best work I've ever done

The next best job was that Goodman job

Trying to get into the union is like trying to get into a college

It's benefit is you get the work and school hours

It takes five years to get a journeymanlicense

While the stream of thought tweetstorm seemed a bit out of place I did enjoy learning of your past and especially about your grandfather. Thanks for sharing.
