    Totally agree.

All Trump needs to do once he becomes the nominee is pivot slightly towards the center and voila, you have a credible candidate for Potus. Above everything, Trump is a super salesmen, and he will sell the American dream to voters like no other to become the next Potus.

Newsflash: Hispanic voters will be voting like crazy. Bye bye Republican Party. I am republican and Hispanic but since trump and his racist remarks became acceptable to the Republican Party I decided I was going to vote democrat no matter who won. None of the other republican nominees defended the Hispanics so there will be no swaying. Also nationwide you have seen anti trump rallies set up by Hispanics. Hispanics who never tend to vote will vote. You can bank on it

If Rubio got the nomination, how many Hispanic voters would that sway?

You really are not paying attention to politics, are you? I am not here to defend the Republican Party, however they have strongly rejected Trump and nearly all of them have spoke against Trumps not-so-PC comments. Trump does not represent the Republican Party, for what little that means. He is more Democratic than Republican. Does this mean you are voting for Trump?
Further, Trump is not anti-Hispanic. He is against illegal immigration. Do you support illegal immigration? Do you think its ok to legalize millions when there are hundreds of thousands who have spend tens of thousands of dollars and many years becoming a legal citizen?

Being against illegal immigration is a different thing than advocating mass deportation, calling Mexican people nasty names, and talking of building a massive (stupid) wall at Mexico's expense. Am I right?

Trump would do none of those things in office -- they're just not possible, aside from continued name-calling and denigration -- but he's said and promised those things to rally his (scary) non-thinking white base of support.

None. Hispanic name won't mean a thing if they are spewing garbage.

Yes I paid lots of attention to politics. The day after his stament was made they were very quiet. Slowly denouncing his racist rant but still sounding strong on the border.

Yes I am for legalizing the people here that came to work. This country was built on illegal immigration. The whites came in boats, the Mexicans cross the border but all came to work.

And let's not talk about increasing working visas as that is modern day slavery. I've seen it in action in Florida where roofing companies were getting people to come over to work for $7 an hour. Let me help you with the math. A house of 40sqfeet can be roofed by 5 workers in a day. That's 280 in labor. The material costs you about 2 grand. So let's say 2,280 is what you are down. The companies were charging $120 per square foot plus $40 for material for a total of 6400. That's 4120 for the white man getting workers to do his work for him and 280 for the slaves. Work visas are cruel and slave like and I will never agree with that unless they standardize what people should be paid. Hard labor should not be paid at same rate as soft labor.

If the party votes for and nominates him, it's going to be hard to argue that he doesn't represent the Republican Party.

Except Trump is running as a Republican in the Republican primaries for the Republican nomination.

The Republican leadership is against Trump (and Cruz) because they fear that a Trump candidacy will not just be a losing candidacy but will have negative coattails for the party.
And I suppose calling them rapist and murderers has nothing to do with being anti-Hispanic.

You bring up a good point as those are two very different topics. One is a racist talking and another is someone who is against illegal immigration. I am fine with people who agree that illegal immigration is not working but I am against racist and all those polls showed the racists were happy when trump spoke.

Collective memory isn't that short and everything Trump says now will be used against him in the general. Further given that Trump is showing how thin skinned he is it is very likely he will be goaded into saying more outlandish and petty things.

He's said he wants to put a giant wall between us and our Hispanic neighbors to the south. That's a pretty big f-off IMO. He makes it seem like illegal immigration is out of control when it is actually declining. He's also created irrational fear of illegal Hispanic immigrants as if their communities are havens for violent criminals. Further, he has been off base and only seems to say Mexicans are the only illegal immigrants. He doesn't seem to understand that Mexicans are leaving the US and that border control is working.

    http://www.pewhispanic.org/2015/11/19/more-mexicans-leaving-than-coming-to-the-u-s/

Read thru that report about Mexican immigrants if you have some time it is pretty interesting.

    http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/11/19/5-facts-about-illegal-immigration-in-the-u-s/

This is just a quick summary of illegal immigration. Basically, the illegal immigrants that are here have been here for years and years. It is a stable community and declining as a percentage of the US population.

You can't lump all Hispanics together in one bucket. Many have been in the US for generations, and immigration from our southern border is far from their top priority. Many people are more concerned about "pushing that peanut forward" than the topic of immigration.

He is running as a Republican and has been leading the polling in the Republican Presidential contest for months. It is a pretty good indication that the Republican voters support him.

You can lump them all together in terms of the fact that pretty much none of them will be going down with the flaming wreck of the GOPindenberg in November.

    Better luck in 2020 texxx.

    This.

There are limitations to what you can say and then backtrack on. Further Trump has alienated groups of voters that are historically well aware of the proverbial "dog whistle".

Perhaps some white voters would excuse what he has said in the past and vote for him.... but black, hispanic and female voters? Very unlikely.
