Trump is the gift that keeps on giving... I'm not sure which is more entertaining, Trump or his supporters.
Trump would be the first President to win a Supreme Court decision without the most votes. He'll be the Chuck Norris of Presidents.
If you want to get technical, those who enter legally are merely law violators subject to civil penalties, which happen to include detention and deportation. Those who enter illegally are criminals. Under the colloquial understanding of the word criminal though, as one who breaks the law, rather than the legal definition, all illegal immigrants would be considered criminals.
So basically someone is a criminal if you say so, or just a law breaker if you say otherwise. Maybe Trump can elect you to the SCOTUS.
Nope. Based on the common usage of the term criminal, being one who breaks the law, someone who breaks the law is a criminal. Based on the legal definition of the term crime, people subject only to civil penalties are not criminals. It has nothing to do with my say so, and everything to do with the fact that non-technical meanings are often attributed to words that differ from their technical definition. Consider the word agnostic. The technical definition of agnostic is lack of knowledge. Someone can be an agnostic theist or an agnostic atheist (in fact I would say everyone falls into one of those two camps). In common usage, there is a triad of positions with atheist (disbelief), agnostic (uncertain one way or the other), or theist (believes in a deity). Here is an experiment you can perform. Ask people what they would call someone who violates the law (or alternatively, is someone who breaks the law criminal). I guarantee a non-trivial number will say criminal/yes. Because they overstay their visa, which is what makes them illegal immigrants. Someone who enters legally and is within the terms of their visa (or becomes naturalized) is not an illegal immigrant and thus not a law violator (based on this law anyway, anyone is capable of breaking many laws).
I just looked it up Palin was announced August 29th. Biden August 23rd. Paul Ryan August 11th. Cheney July 25th Edwards July 6th Liberman August 8th Kemp August 10th Gore July 9th Quayle August 16th Bentsen July 12th Ferraro July 12th Bush July 16th So... There ya go any day now, or could be up 2 months away.
I agree with your reasoning and yes you're correct that those who break the law, in this case not following US immigration laws, are criminals. I think that you would agree that laws that are out of step with reality the problem lies with more with the law than it does with the criminals.
I suspect Trump will announce that he is such a good candidate, that he will be his own running mate.
