The sad thing is if there weren't any videos coming from social media, the media would be covering up the violence as usual

Any protester who attacked anyone else should be arrested and charged. Our society can not accept violence like this no matter the reason for protest. Throwing objects at people or punching at them, spitting, damaging property - they should be prosecuted.
Wow they lost one vote. How many people have turned on trump and Republicans because of their racism??
Reading that guys twitter feed. He was never on liberals side anyways. He's also a racist calling the Indiana born judge a Mexican.
Let's just be honest here. We don't like you guys and you don't like us. We're going to fight until the very end.
I would agree here but I happen to have heard many latinos/hispanics/etc refer to themselves as "Mexicans"...so there is that. I certainly have never referred to myself as "French" or "Canadian" and am very proud of that fact.
So all the mexicans that call my korean friend mexican are racists? He looks mexican to them... People throw the word racist around a little freely these days... by this definition, we are all racist without question.
Worked really well in late 1932. Think, people. The Nazis used trumped up (Ooo, ouch, I did that), over-reactions to confusing street encounters to keep preaching their hate against their targets. It's amazing the extent to which Trump is following the playbook and the media, and especially the internet, is just eating it up. Violence happens as a reaction to violent, hateful, fear-mongering speech. Period. That doesn't justify it, of course, and any person acting out should be prosecuted -- that goes without saying, one would hope -- but we can't be surprised. Trump's playing the whole country right now. You think he doesn't love this San Jose business? He LOVES it.
You'd have to define your terms. Anyone who sees generalized differences between people by recent genetic heritage is racist, but it doesn't have to be malicious. The differences most people refer to a "race" are probably more cultural than by race. Though race does seem to divide cultures as a function of tribalism, the closing of genetic ranks to assure mutual support. Trump is just exploiting tribalism to the detriment of America's unique and traditional strength, multi-culturalism.
Trump protesters should not be employing violence. Aside from being morally wrong, it's counter-productive. Regarding Judge Curiel: I have not been able to confirm his citizenry (other than I know he's a US citizen by dint of his birthplace), but he was born of Mexican parents, so it is quite possible he is a citizen of Mexico. Obviously, it's a bit outrageous to attack the judge's impartiality by suggesting he would have a higher loyalty to Mexico than to his home country in which he is a public servant. And it's a little abrasive to call him 'Mexican' instead of 'Hispanic', but it's not really totally inaccurate either. The judge is Mexican-American. Go ahead and denounce Trump for attacking the judge's integrity. But, don't imply he's not Mexican just because he was born in Indiana. He's an American, but there's freedom for him to be Mexican too. Isn't spite basically the motivation that has driven the entire Trump candidacy? Spite of the Establishment perpetuating their own power. Spite of minorities eroding the power base of the traditional white anglo-saxon protestant male voter. The whole voter proposition is driven by resentment.
no, but he suppressed the Press and fomented xenophobia and nationalism with a campaign false accusations about outside forces to subvert the rule of law and free and fair elections I don't think anybody is suggesting Trump could conspire to become a dictator (like Obama) but the trend of vilify subgroups to fire up nationalism among the majority is a troubling pattern. It's divisive and asking for violence ... for and against. It's un-statesmanlike, short-sighted and ultimately destructive.
