The debates aren't going to matter. This guy has been saying ignorant, stupid things for over a year. Any time the focus comes away from him or to actual issues, Trump will just say something ridiculous and stupid and the media will show it on a loop like they've been doing since this all started.

Trumpettes want a clown show, they're getting a clown show, and they're going to vote for the clown show.

These are two very interesting quotes (by Trump and RL).

I'd hardly call a MFG or a Sunday night game a major distraction. Maybe for the fans of two cities involved. But compared to having the debate on a Thur-Sat when even more people will tune out...makes no sense. The schedule here actually is meant to maximize the audience. What Trump is really trying to do is find a way to move the debate to a lower profile night.

The debate will be Trump's weakness not his strength. Hillary is going to make Trump look very weak on a policy perspective. She will poke holes in many of his arguments that don't stand up to scrutiny.

She is not like Rubio, Christie, or Jeb and she will not be dragged to his level either. This is a national audience, not a redneck fan contest.

He needs to minimize exposure for her audience, in other words get it on a Friday or Sat.

Yup... RocketsLegand thinks that Trump's one liner attacks in a one on one debate setting will hold up. But in all actuality when Hillary gives long nuanced responses on actual in depth policy decision and Trump keeps on answering with Hillary attacks eventually independent voters that aren't Trump nut huggers like RL will eventually ask "Okay, we know Hillary sucks but what we need something more from you than 'BELIEVE ME! I'LL GET THE BEST PEOPLE!' "

RL when Trump looses the election after he refuses to debate.

Hillary being bad at debating could point to her bad health. I read somewhere that Hillary had a blood clot in her brain and has serious issues. In one of the leak email a top adviser described her "often confused". There are rumors out there that she was being refreshed and reverberate during breaks at the Democratic debates. There are also rumors out that Hillary has difficult time answering impromptu questions hence why she hasn't had a press conference in about 7 months.

The benefit for Trump to debate is that the bar is so incredibly low for him, all he has to do is not trip and have his toupee fall off and it will be considered a success.

Clinton is an excellent debater. Trump knows this will be tough for him.

I think if Trump loses he will sue.

This is a pretty brilliant move for the moron. Obviously he's BS'ing. This is going to make his supporters and independents watch the debate with even MORE cynicism of the moderation. If that's even possible lol.

This isn't Trump refusing to debate -- this is Trump negotiating for a better deal. He saw how Candy Crowley and the Democrats stacked the deck against Romney 4 years ago and wants a level playing field. The first rule of any negotiation is that you have to be willing to walk away, and you have to make that known. That's what's being set up here.

Some of you have clearly never participated in a business negotiation before if you can't identify what's going on here. Fortunately for you, you have me to teach you.

    GOOD DAY

This has NOTHING to do with negotiations. These debates where set in stone by a non-partisan group well before any sane person thought Trump would be a realistic candidate. It's not going to change. His intent is pretty obvious. Let me teach you some common sense. He's doing this so his followers can point to 'bias' and 'media manipulation' when he gets decimated by a career politician who knows a stratosphere level more of nuance in governance, foreign affairs and legislation .

The last two elections they only held debates during the week and twice they conflicted with NFL games (one MNF and one TNF on NFL Network). So no, I don't think that's correct. It's not like they hepd them on Friday and Saturday, the two nights where you wouldn't.

No Romney just got owned because he got too cocky after the first debate when Obama didn't give a ****, so he tried using talking points in the others and got ethered by the truth. The deck was not stacked against him. More of a basic post than premium post bro.

No, actually it is Trump negotiating. He did the same thing in the Republican primaries, obtaining significant concessions in the process, and going so far as to not participate in one because he didn't get the terms that he sought. That's good business. When you rise to a level where you negotiate things of consequence in your job, you can apply these same principles to your benefit. Trump is changing the game.

So when you are applying for a job, telling an interested employer that you won't do an interview is a good practice?

How much you want to bet not a single thing about the debate set up will change. The other option Trump has is not to particapte.

This was set up a year ago by a non-partisan group. It has little semblance with the RNC debates where they were still ironing out WHO WOULD ACTUALLY PARTICIPATE the ****ing day before. Far less formal. It's the difference between haggling at a local bazaar and haggling at Walmart.

Trump isn't doing this for negotiating tactics. He's doing this to lower the expectations of his base so they have an excuse when he is annihilated with nuance.

You are setting yourself up for failure. You are trying to portray this as a positive trait for Trump. "Hes a great negotiator!". But the odds are nothing will change so I guess that would mean he failed.

The Debates will be hilarious. Hillary and Trump remind me of two Batman villains. Trump is the Joker. And Hillary is the Penguin.

No matter how much you disagree with Hillary, the debate will more resemble an angry teenager with no legislative and governing experience vs a career politician with boat loads more nuanced policy rhetoric. That large difference in information is exemplified in a one on one debate.
