i feel the cavs don't lack talent THAT badly. big z, big ben, wally, joe smith, etc. remember they're in the east. i think their problem is their offensive scheme. 90% of the time the offense is lebron vs 5 opponents; at least in the celtics series. ain't gonna work. as badly as boston played, they still managed winning that series.

had a feeling while i was watching... if adelman was coaching the cavs, they'd be playing detroit right now.

Very good point. The Cavs organization's problems don't start and end with Mike Brown, but he is a part of the problem they need to fix.

    reeeeaally?

I seem to recall some guy that looked an aweful lot like JVG on the sidelines for NY in the 99 Finals.

maybe my eyes were deceiving me, or did the Cavs win their Finals appearance and I didnt notice?

now, want to try that again?

Mike Brown is a terrific assistant coach on a great team or he is a good head coach for a young team looking to break into the playoffs. He isn't the coach for a team with real Championship aspirations. Can he get a team with with Lebron James to deep into the playoffs year after year in the East? Of course but who can't? You could put Tmac in the East right now with a bunch of YMCA ballers and the coach from The Waterboy and still have a shot at getting to the ECF.

Cleveland needs to upgrade in the worst way. Being a great defensive coach, a positive "player's coach" and apparently a great human is nice but when you need to take the next step you need to upgrade more than the talent on the roster. You need to upgrade your coach.

Yeah, when JVG brought the Knicks to the Finals, the East was still competitive.

You guys have been drinking your JVG cool aid too much.

Brown has a higher playoff W/L% after 3 seasons; .568 > .541 I guess. At least Brown went to the final in a 82 game season.

Brown also played the Wizards in the first round every year...equivalent to the grizzlies here, played the bulls, the pistons to get to the finals.

Now look at all the teams JVG had to go through in the west...exact;y

JVG was a good coach, he just wasn't given enough but i also have to say that there are 2 SIDES to the game, i hate 1 sided coaches especially like that idiot Dantoni, Nash makes the FADEAWAY 3 extremely difficult and all of the is lost by ginobli getting an ez drive

thats right, when you dont have a real response to someone pointing out the crap you spout is crap, just accuse them of being biased.

you did not say one word about winning percentage in your original post....did ya?

    yea. I thought so

I dont expect you to remember, cause you obviously never watched the NBA back then, but the East wasnt some cakewalk like it is now.

And regardless of how many games the regular season is, the playoffs are still the same length....and The 99 Knicks went from 8th seed to the Finals.

there aint no amount of twisting you can do to get around that.

go on....keep spouting it, I know you cant resist it.

One of the biggest joke I've ever heard.

East was a mess after Jordan retired. I think people call them the LEAST conference back then. It's because the East Conference was not relevant. Not until the Detriot Piston showed up after 5 consecutive championships by Western Conference.

Let me also remind you Brown & the Cavs went to the final in their 2nd season. On their way to the final, they beated the Pistons which are proven Champs.

The East is horrible right now. I might be exaggerating but look at how bad the teams are. Detroit is legit but getting old. Boston looks to have regular season overachiever syndrome and the rest couldn't come close to making the playoffs in the West.

The bottom line is you can't really be tested as a player/coach if the only NBA competition you have is in the East over the last 2-3 years.

fully agree, if cavs were in west conf, they'd be #9 and the coach woulda been fired

put the rockets in the east even and we're going to the finals every year

depends on if the refs want the celtics to win or not

I bet if Cavs were in the West they'd never be in the playoffs.

East is pathetic, I understand Mike Brown coaching crappy Cavs, they're so bad team, but you don't get that impression unless you watch West.

I think he fits Cleveland very well. With the personnel in Cleveland, who's hands do you want the ball in? Ben Wallace? Wally Sczerbiak? Delonte is only good for dribbling the ball up the court, spotting up for open 3's, and driving when he gets doubled off of.

Unless they get more offensive orriented players, Mike Brown is perfect for that team.

    It's a player's league.

The Cavs got as far as they should have. They were not favored to win.

I think gibson would have helped that team a bunch. Lebron can carry a team pretty far.
