Once I'm loaded up and truckin, I'll have a long way to go and a short time to get there. But I'll do what they say can't be done. I'll just watch Ol Bandit run

Government wouldnt allow that for decades, long way to come. This industry is so regulated now esp with the state troopers stopping over everyone now
Rolled up on an accident outside of Amarillo, no one was around. It was the middle of the night and the car was totaled, looked like it had rolled several times. I walked around and found a dead guy laying in the grass about 100 feet or so from the car.
I-heart works great. CB radio is a good tool to have but the shine has worn off, to many fools , not enough professionals. I keep it on low volume and squelched,I go by bigdaddy.
I mentioned this thread to some friends and we talked about the image that the trucking industry has and how that image came about. I've lived this life for 23 years and it definitely has a few knuckleheads, but by and large it is full of good people just trying to get it done.
Just saw this thread. Great read for those who aren't familiar with the industry. I used to work for a software company that built EOBR/Electronic Driver Logs (among many products) for the trucking industry. So on that note, what are your thoughts on paper logs going away. Looks like the FMCSA's mandate for electronic logs is finally happening and I think there's a pretty huge perception that driver independence is going away with it. Couple that with the rise of other technologies like in cab video and I can understand that a lot of drivers are ready to quit when this stuff finally comes to fruition. Thankfully the company I worked at killed plans to develop in cab cameras and stuck with only cameras on the outside of trucks but others are still rolling ahead.
Is the driving reason behind governing top speed safety? Preventing speeding tickets? Or is it fuel efficiency? Seems counter productive to govern the top speed below what common speed limits are (65-70 mph).
