He was actually the body in the back of the car in the book, so looks like the show's staff realized he was too good of a character to kill off...
Yes, the character was so well-received and so well-acted that they would have lost a lot of fans of the series who didn't read the books had they killed him off. Smart move.
Yeah I told my soon to be sister in law at the end of last season not to get too attached to Lafayette because of the books. Glad they decided to keep him.
Lafayette played Ernie Davis' brother in "The Express", it was strange to see him as someone other than Lafayette. It was a great movie BTW.
The part with Jason and Sookie on the bed. I thought it was really over the top and the whole scene was unnecessary.
I can see that. As cheesy as that scene was they did need to reconnect though for what is coming up. Jason has to be really hard to write for... and still keep him in tune with what the character in the book series is like. I was afraid you were going to say the Godric scene was cheesy. I loved that one My parents were watching that Saturday night and I shouted out... That's Lafayette!!! They were like.. huh? So then I had to go look it up.. the guy that played Ernie Davis was in Coach Carter too... I love sports movies. They make me happy.
My mind went back to season one. . . when it looked like Jason was making a move on Sook . . I was thinking. . uh oh! Rocket River
I just bought season 1 on blu ray for $39.99 on amazon. I've been meaning to check this show out with my fiance. Hope it's worth $40!
Yeah I suppose. A PIP feature or something. But that doesn't matter. I'm talking about the content of the show. I mentioned bluray for $40 because that's the lowest I've seen it.
Great episode last night. Jason as "God" was funny as hell! The only crappy thing was it was only 45 minutes long........ WTF? Two more episodes left, they are going to have to cram a lot of stuff into them. I cant wait until next Sunday.
It's kind of weird how rapidly the direction of the show changed since the last episode. We went from "touching scenes with Godric and Eric" to "Jason with chainsaw and nail gun" in no time.
Actually the books have swinging moments like that too... Bubba (Elvis turned brain damaged vampire - you have to read it to really understand) is normally one of the 'comic' characters, but they decided against using him in the series. Also Andy and his wife in the books do that as well. There are others that you haven't been introduced to in the series yet as well... but there is a lot of funny moments in them that I think they are doing a good job of adding that element to this season. Pretty much everything with Jason is either unintentionally or intentionally funny to me.
