Yeah the story's they are doing with both Jason and Tara are completely different than the books. Not really a big fan of the whole Fellowship thing w/ Jason at this point.
I think Jason's story is their way of explaining the goings on of FOTS so I get that. Tara's story, I don't know.
Great episode last night! It sucks there are only 4 left this season. Godric was a lot more laid back and humane than I thought he would be. The thing with Maryanne, Tara, and Eggs is getting kind of freaky.
I'm about to watch this series from the start on blu-ray after all the rave reviews. Does the first season cover the first book, and the second season cover the second book, etc.? Or does it just follow pace on its own. My fiance can't decide if she wants to read the book or watch the show first. We've heard that this is a rare situation where the show is better than the book
Its an orgy like every episode He slapped the ish out of Tara. I just hated how the episode ended makin you wonder what happened.ugh Well I guess that's what makes you wanna keep watching.
I actually feel like the last couple of episodes have been best of the entire series. They've upped the "popcorn" aspect, and it's gotten into a pretty nice groove. I think some of the earlier episodes were a little awkward and slow in places, but right now it doesn't ever seem to let up. Sure, the show is different from the books, but this is mainly due to the show's decision to have several major characters instead of just one. The books are all told in the first person from Sookie's perspective, so none of the other characters get near as much detail. So of course the writers are going to have to fill in a lot of plot and character development to give everyone else their due. They've done a pretty awesome job in my opinion and have even improved on the books in many ways. Just a few off the top of my head: 1.) Lafayette - Awesome Character that the show expanded on. 2.) Jessica - A lot of interesting new things with her that we've never seen in the books, which hardly even touched on new vampires. 3.) The flashback scenes - they've shown a ton of Bill's history and have even touched a little on Eric's. Helps to build a mythology that the books lacked, and I'm sure it will evolve even more as the show goes on. Most of my complaints are nitpick-y. For instance, Stan is a minor character in the books, but they totally change him for the worse in the show. In the books he's a somewhat nerdy, practical guy, but obviously a bad ass. There's a little a bit of mystery about him. In the show there's no mystery, he's just a dumb, blood-thirsty cowboy vampire. Also, the ending of the show was awesome last night.
It is, indeed. The books are good. The show is phenomenal. The makers of the show have dome something brilliant: they've taken the books as source material, and remained mostly faithful to the central storyline, but they've fleshed out the satellite characters considerably. Whereas the books are almost exclusively about Sookie, the show is truly an ensemble cast. Spoiler Tara, for example, is merely a footnote in the books, Lafayette has been dead since book 2, Jason is largely missing, etc. Also, one book=one season (more or less), so the source material should last a good long while. Last nights ep was great. What an ending!
Maryanne is pretty much the same as in the books.. they made her character much more involved in the series because we can see it from more characters pov. In the book it's only Sookie's pov. BetterthanI I just made a post about that earlier today on another forum. I have really enjoyed the books (I read the first one the year it came out) but the series takes it to a whole new level and does things that the books can't do. I honestly feel like I should brush up on the third book (and reread the first two) before the third season starts next year. Just so I can truly appreciate the differences between the two.
Nobody else thinks this season is only half as good as the first season? I've been extremely disappointed with this season, everything seems to be going at a much slower pace and it's been too much dialogue an not enough suspense and action..
I'm the opposite. I thought the first few episodes were great but I thought this week's especially was really bad. It got way too cheesy for me. Hopefully that doesn't continue.
Not really. I think season 2 has been as strong as season 1. However, I am totally burnt out on Maryanne. They just keep stringing her story along and it's starting to bore me. Looks like next week we get a confrontation, so we'll see...
Just out of curiosity what felt cheesy to you? I am wondering if the parts I loved were the parts you thought were cheesy... I am ready for her to go as well. In the book she, the maenad,, didn't have near as much "screen time" so she was just scary, not annoying.
I for one like this season. The last episode was one of my favorites, especially the last 10 minutes or so. I cant wait until next week. I don't really watch too much TV, but this show is just cool. I haven't been this interested in a TV show since The Sopranos, good stuff.
