I haven't seen the season finale yet, but yes so far they are following plot lines started in the books. They have strayed a bit in the character interactions at this point, but major lines are still there.
anyone know where I can just read a plot summary of the first book? Don;t really feel like actually reading the book.
can somebody clear up...can they be out in the sunlight at certain times or not? they showed in a clip of the vampire/human wedding and she was outside in the light.
I don't think that they are awake during sunlight. That might have been a dream sequence. If you are watching the series, the first season is pretty much a plot summary of the first book.
Does anyone know where I can download the episodes? I started watching it prior to the hurricane and because I couldn't DVR it when I didn't have electricity for 2 weeks I haven't been able to catch up. On a side note, I started reading the books and they are really good. I'm on the 4th book now and plan on reading the rest. I'm excited to see how the books translate to the TV show.
I have actually downloaded them all from Pirate Bay where R2K has been doing the torrents of the games. They were all really good quality. If you click on tvshows up at the top, True Blood is on the list of top ones. Or just follow this link http://thepiratebay.org/tv I am interested to see how you think they did creating the parallel worlds. There are some changes, but they are small up to this point. Well most of them are small. I am curious to see where exactly in the book series they go off on their own. Especially since some of my favorite characters have much more interesting roles in later books (ie Eric)
Ok, so this series redeemed itself in the last three episodes. This final episode finally cleared up some things for me. Great acting by the guy who plays Rene. MaryAnn is one scary lady! I'm still trying to figure out what/who she is. Shapeshifter? Animal controller? Was "Eggs" really the pig? MaryAnn was definitely the woman in the middle of road who caused Tara's crash. But what does she want with Tara? Who killed Lafayette? I don't think it was Bill. My guess is either the vampire that Bill made, or a payback for the death of the vampire Jason and Amy killed. Why does Sam have all that money? What's his tie with MaryAnn?
Eric is a GREAT character. I like Alcide in the last book as well. I think the tension among the three, maybe four including Sam could be great.
The vampire wedding was at night - it looked so bright because of all the lighting around the courthouse and the tv/camera crew's lighting. Anything looks bright when you shine spotlights everywhere and people run towards the light source. Vampires can't be out in daylight Spoiler look what happened to Bill when he went outside to try to save Sookie
Wait until you add Quinn and his family into the mix as well. Let's just say Sookie's "attraction" comes from all things non-human
That's what I thought meggo. I need to reread the books (and watch last night's episode) before next season starts... at least we know they have ordered a next season, unlike some of my other shows. Edit: I forgot to add these last two responses together... sorry for bad forum etiquette in posting twice in a row.
I think that they intentionally set it up to look like Bill killed Lafayette, but I really don't think it was him. IMO, it was either a werewolf, or the big hog. It looked to me like he was trying to climb up on the dumpster to get way from an animal. There were a lot of things in last nights episode that set up for some good stuff next season. Whats the connection between Maryann and Sam, and why was he taking all the money? The funniest thing to me was when Terry told Arlene, "your hair is pretty, like the sunset after a bomb went off." I wanna know what he meant by "not a lot of people listen to me, but they should." I think he may end up playing a bigger role next season, I like his character. All in all, it was a great episode and I cant wait until Summer! To hold me over until season 2, I'm going to read the books. I found a pretty good deal on Buy.com. It's the first seven books in the series for $34.80. For anyone that might wanna pick them up, heres the link. http://www.buy.com/prod/sookie-stac...thern-vampire-series/q/loc/106/210206178.html
OK, we have been watching this series and notices several times that there has been a single frame flashing in some of the episodes of what appears to be an Elizabethan era ball or dance. Anyone seen that?
no that wedding scene was definitely done at night time. i thought the same thing too but when i watched the scene again it was dark outside so it was conducted during night time.
For anyone who has read "Living Dead in Dallas" (the second book). Concerning Mary Anne. Spoiler So I was pretty confused. At first I was almost certain Mary Anne was the Maenad from the second book (named Callisto), but then when they made her living in a mansion I thought she was maybe the fairy (Claudine from the book). After a quick look on message boards it turns out she is the Maenad, but I guess they're trying to develop her character a little more so they're making her more than just a crazy witch who lives in the woods. If you remember from the book she's basically a sex fiend who has a (sexual) relationship with Sam, which also explains Sam running naked through the forest earlier in the season.
watched it last night and it was all right i was hoping for a bit more from a season premiere but thats fine what sort of person is that mary anne character? the previews for the upcoming episodes looks good though with Jason going to the fellowship of the sun leadership retreat, lafayette wanting to turn to a vampire. also i find the girl that Bill had to turn for his punishment to be very cute
