I thought he'd be able to get 2 fully guaranteed years based on competing interest from the Grizz, and perhaps other teams from his SL performance.
Idk, I mean for what...3rd or 4th forward down the chart, maybe even 5th you could do just one hell of a lot worse than LMM. AND DEN you got Troy Williams, who may push him down further? That's insanity depth. Pippen may be right....Ariza might be gone to get Melo here. That's James' dude though, I think it would be a travesty to send a decorated and respected player like Ariza, who is your superstar's dude to a team like the Knicks. Idk... Loading up on quality forwards though. MDA might be forced to expand the rotation to 10, 11 guys because this team as currently constructed is deep. Balls deep.
I really hope he gets a little bit of regular playing time this year. I know the odds are against it given the depth and he's still young, but I would love to see a D'antoni run and gun system where the Rockets throw out endless waves of athletic swingmen bouncing up and down the court on fresh legs, running circles around the other team. Could you imagine having to deal with 48 minutes of Ariza, Mbah a Moute, Tucker, and Williams running non-stop?
Assuming we gel quickly enough, the Rockets have enough sustained firepower with both CP3 and Beard that we might be able to blow out teams consistently enough for him to get playing time.
nice pick up. now if we can get one more defensive guard and i'll be good for the summer. just wait for the melo drama till training camp..
You could do worse with your 11th or 12th roster spot than Troy Williams. If they get an injury on the wings, I'd feel comfortable with him coming off the bench and getting 10-15 minutes a night for a few weeks. However, I still feel like they need a legitimate backup PG. Because I don't feel remotely comfortable with the idea of Bobby Brown getting 10-15 minutes a game if Paul or Harden miss time.
Coach D'Antoni really likes Tayor apparently. He's basically already dubbed him the backup PG saying he won't go to RGV this year.
I'm a UT alum, so naturally I love Taylor. I worry about whether he'll still be on the roster post-Melo trade, though, assuming that actually happens. But the guy's an excellent penetrator and playmaker, and it seems like he was developing a pretty legit perimeter shot in the D-League last season.
Is Brown guaranteed? How about Oliver? I think Brown is going to get a spot because he's buddies with CP and Harden, but I would take Williams as an end-of-bench wing over Cam Oliver
Yeah, i remember Uthoff, Long and Quarterman, but i left them out cause i think they'll all be traded or cut anyway. But other than them i think you're right, Nanu is probably the guy who's going to get traded in the Melo deal...
Oliver can play PF, not sure Williams can. And Oliver has a much smoother 3 point shot. Williams plays like a spaz IMO, always seems out of control. FTW likes to poke fun at Dekker dribbling with his face but Williams was on the floor just as much in Summer League.
Seems to me that if Morey just sits on his hands, the Knicks will eventually have to buy Melo out and we can sign him. IMO the Knicks have no leverage to force a trade and Melo has all the leverage to extract his freedom.
