I wonder if this could be the worst year for Hurricanes ever....which would make the prediction centers look pretty danged silly. So, I am cheering for that...worst year ever, or rather, best year in regards to no storms making serious impact. DD
Actually, that last comment was kind of depressing. I was heartbroken when he (and Bum) went to New Orleans. The end of an era that will never be repeated. Even the Rocket's championship years couldn't compare to Luv Ya Blue.
Now it's time to use the word VERY. For this reason it's time to pay very close attention to the tropics.
The bi-line on the Chronicle's website says "As Danielle strengthens, Earl and Fiona start to worry us" Uh....why would Earl worry us? It's not even going to hit the US, much less the Gulf. And the article says Fiona may very well follow the same path as Earl. I AM WORRIED.
This is beyond goofy. I'm a Rita evacuee, and I'd go again if a Cat 4 hurricane were threatening us within a couple of days. After living with no power for a couple of weeks after Ike, I'm not sure I wouldn't leave for far less...just because it's a tremendous pain in the butt to stick around for the aftermath. A twister spun off Alicia and ripped off part of the roof at my house growing up. We lived in a hotel for two months while the fixed our house. So I take hurricanes seriously. But when you're telling me to be "worried" about systems that aren't named storms yet and are still just off the coast of Africa, it's all gone too far. You're trying too hard. I know...I know...the forecasts and computer models told us one of the seven horsemen of the apocalypse would be riding straight outta Neil Frank's butt and into our living rooms this summer...and I know how true you want that to be. but chill the flip out, already. It's too much.
let's bombard eric's blog with katy jokes! Danielle is a beautiful thing to watch. Mother nature is always beautiful but deadly sometimes.
We moved over yesterday to the south part of Antigua, b/c it has safer emergency preparations and safer for the boats. But we are looking to get hammered by Earl from between 3-5AM today. We had alot of rain at about 4PM today with winds recorded at 50 mph. But since that time till now its been eerily quiet. No rain or wind. I've been told to expect winds of about 85 mph at its peak. We have the storm shutters down at our place and even have sandbags on the front door, and now just hoping no flooding takes place like it did with Hurricane Omar in 2008.
Hope you guys are making it out alright. Earl looks to be bombing out right now. Latest euro is out. Shows a pretty strong storm off the east coast. That island to the north of you (Barbuda) looks like its getting hammered by this strengthening storm.
The models have all 3 storms in the Atlantic heading north towards Greenland. We'll have to keep an eye on them. Remember Ike? It started in the Atlantic too.
