Black folks don’t like to get their ‘her’ wet fool. Why would they name a hurricane after them? Word.

We are in La Nina conditions as of mid-July.

D#3 is interesting. It's going to move very quickly thanks to a ridge of high pressure to its north and it is probably not going to develop much beyond tropical storm strength thanks to a sizable low pressure to its west, but it's still SO early in its development cycle, it will be hard to know anything about this storm until it grows a bit more and the storm hunters pass through it a couple more times.

No model has it reaching hurricane strength at this point and, oddly enough, the European Model, which has consistently been one of the most accurate, doesn't even develop this into a tropical storm.

    We'll see.

You'll see that there are more hurricanes in neutral years which is odd to me. I thought there would be more hurricanes during la nina years.

Oh right, I remember reading that, Jeff!

Generally, your best bet is just to do that in May or June and get it out of the way. I don't worry too much about bottled water in a city the size of Houston (thought it never hurts), but a good flashlight with batteries, candles, matches, maybe battery back up for some of your stuff (computer, etc), prescription medication if you take it and a generator if you want to piss off the neighbors is all good.

In the 5 or so days before, just make sure you have gas in the tank.

If you have kids or pets, better to have whatever you need for them on hand as well.

as of now, Galveston has 22% chance of getting TS winds...

it is definitely starting to look bad for oil spill recovery.

So we could have this TD3 and L 98 coming our way. Well... we don't really need the rain anymore... so I hope it doesn't come here... our street will just get flooded.

    98's headed for Mexico.

now Gavleston's TS wind probability is down to 13% http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/comment.html?entrynum=1552

the models for TD 3 are finding more consensus to the east in Louisiana [IMG]

    That's hilarious.

The thing is, I've known several black girls named Alicia, Katrina, Rita, and Allison.

I've also known some black guys named Andrew, Carl, and Ike (well, techinically they were named Dwight).

    I don't understand her beef.
