No... I'd like it in the Summer... obviously in the Winter it's going to rain.... the drought is here NOW... so we need rain NOW.. I'm down for anything that's up to a cat 1 or a low 2.
Yes.. but those other ways have not shown up... we've been waiting all summer... and now finally when the Atlantic is active again... I'd really like a TS to come and dump some rain... or a hurricane if it comes to that... but again.. what difference does it make what I want? It's what is going to happen in reality ..... Also, I'd like to add to my other post saying that there's even another disturbance near the Caribbean islands that could be more threat to us.. You can see that band of waves near the Caribbean Islands.. Anthony Yanez was just saying those kinds of waves are the ones that sneak up on you... especially with the warm waters in the Gulf. Temperatures are pretty warm right now.
like a nice little front that *may* make it close enough to spur some showers around here. IMF, do yourself and us a favor and quit making definitive statements about tropical systems....the good meteorologists dont...and its the height of folly to think you can with your very (VERY) basic understanding of tropical weather systems. on the last post I made re: dirty side.....you must have misunderstood what he meant...Lyons is normally pretty good, but I dont believe for a second he said that about which side is the worst side to be on.
I see... so basically you're saying I don't know what I'm talking about.... alright... What definitive statements have I made? I'm just posting my opinions on what I want... not what's going to happen... I don't know why everyone's getting so worked up here.... damn.. I didn't know I was god.
This is what I thought at first. I don't really believe that Lyons would say that, because it's totally false.
Pretty much. A lot of people check these threads for relevant information regarding storms from those who have more insight than "I watch Channel 26 news!" Wish casting is trollish and not needed.
We have a 40% chance of rain today. I'm guessing on any given day we have a far better chance of rain arriving from any other circumstance than we do of it arriving via a tropical storm or hurricane. I don't know why it matters to me that you're rooting for an "up to a Cat 2" storm to make landfall near here...except that it happened last year and was an enormous b**** to deal with.
yeah, seems IMF doesn't really understand the consequences of a Cat 1 or Cat 2...don't mean to rag on you, IMF...do you even own property or anything like that?
Wellp... I guess being attacked by everyone means there's really no point of posting in this thread.... I hope for the best.. good luck!
i'm sorry, but anyone "hoping" for a hurricane has something seriously wrong with them. I mean, besides all the "coolness" that happens with people's houses being damaged, power outages, the hassle of preparing and the stress, potential deaths, etc etc. What's not to look forward too?!
Yeah, I think you kind of lose your credibility when you say something like the dirty side of a hurricane is on the West side.
Alright... I think I've offended many people.... by saying I'd hope for a cat 2 storm. Let me retract by saying I hope nobody gets hurt or goes through any miseries with the weather this hurricane season... and hope everyone is safe. I'll admit my lack of knowledge of tropical systems... I never claimed I was an expert at it... but nonetheless.. I'll say I'm a beginner with a lot of interests in this category... I was close in deciding if I was going to study Meteorology... didn't happen though. I'm also going to say that all of you are right in your way of saying I was out of line.. stupid... or however you have addressed me... so bottom line... I'm sorry. To clarify, I do have property.. and in fact had damage during Ike. Just wanted to put that out there also....
I think more importantly... Many of us check this thread for important info/updates. To see it bumped up to the top because some clown is talking about how a storm that just formed off the african coast "has a chance" of coming into the gulf in like two weeks from now and how we need the rain is seriously a joke. That's the best way I can describe my issue with IMF right now.
The kid apologized, cut him some slack. He said some stupid things, but its not really that much of a big deal as you guys who supposedly rely on this thread to be your end-all source of pertinent hurricane info have made it out to be.
I really didn't mean what I said harshly, yall know I can be MUCH harsher when posting than I have been in this thread. agreed on using this thread for petinent info, the very best site around to get updates from folks who either work in the field or are VERY knowledgeable irt tropical systems is weatherunderground (specifially Dr Jeff Masters blog) Ive addressed you personally in #hr about my posting motivations in this thread IMF...hopefully you understand it was in no way personal.
