Well, I haven't been to any inclusive resorts outside of Mexico but I'd throw the recommendations out anyways. Royal Playa Del Carmen (where we got married. I really enjoyed our stay there) http://www.realresorts.com/the-royal-playa-carmen/ Secrets Maroma (LOVED the food!!) http://www.secretsresorts.com/maroma/ We are planning to go to Dreams Riviera Cancun this fall. http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drerc/index.html I would love to go to the Secrets resort in Punta Canta someday.
The wife and I have been to Barbados twice, and have loved it both times. Just make sure that the resort you're staying at is on the western side of the island...the water is calmer, clearer, and the beach is much sandier than on the southern side of the island.
Heading to St. Martin this August. Hopefully no hurricanes. Jeeber, my understanding is the Atlantic side is a lot windier/choppier.
looks like you already went. i wouldn't have added anything to the thread meaningful anyway, but would have suggested going to Europe/Italy instead. Too late now though!
Yup, the eastern/Atlantic side is much rougher than the western/Gulf side. I'm honestly not sure if there are any resorts on that side of the island. The southern coast isn't as bad as the eastern, but it's nowhere near as nice as the western.
That was the case in the Dominican. The Caribbean side had the coral which kept the beach much more calm. We were on the Atlantic side and had a red flag the entire time we were there...and it doesn't appear that it ever really changes. Good for boogie boarding and attempting to body surf. Don't take sunglasses or anything you don't want to lose into the water. My wife lost 2 pairs of sunglasses.
Many years ago I went to Fiji with my family. The resort was incredible. The islands were amazing, and the water was fabulous. I loved it. Snorkeling, great food, lawn bowling, tennis, boat trips, a bus into the nearest town, great food, and as close to tropical paradise as I could imagine. Sadly I don't remember the name of the exact resort. I do remember Charles Schultz was staying there at the time though.
What the heck? Where did you see that? I was looking at United.com. 1,700k is more doable than 6k. lol
With some more digging I could probably find something even cheaper. I'm pretty much convinced that with the right timing, you can pretty much fly anywhere in the world (from the US) for less than $1,000 roundtrip.
Please share. I am looking at $830 for a round trip to Cancun the week of thanksgiving. That does not fly with me!!
I flew from NYC nonstop to Costa Rica last Thanksgiving for $283 roundtrip. Here's a flight to Cancun for $463.
