Yea. That is what I get for wandering off to read and post in the Rockets Forum. Mango ------------------ 1. Put new topics in the proper forum. Things happening in the rest of the NBA 2. good job dr of dunk, i know it was pretty easy but im only 17 and dont know that many good trivia questions ------------------ How Sweet It Is! How Sweet It Is! Gene Peterson on the rockets winning the 1995 championship over the Orlando Magic
Mango, Dunk Regarding the Eagles...Let me chime in for Behad... "Is that your final answer?" hehe isn't that Potato Head one great. It was unbelievable in college bowl. Everyone thought he buzzed too quickly by mistake and threw out a humorous response rather than admitting his mistake. Then the look on the "regis" man's face...priceless.
It is unless you're counting singles. Then I'd hafta say Johnny Taylor's "Disco Lady". ------------------ Falk that Mo Fo!!!
fadeaway,,,,i like that one. btw: can we make one stipulation to these trivia questions DrN...they can not be entirely trivial. I mean, the question and answer must be worthy of remembering. For instance...who is going to forget Doc Ellis now. And who is going to forget that Gin and Tonics were used to "fight malaria" in the English army. next question: "Who holds the American League single-season record for lowest ERA by a left-hander?" also, does baseball serve a purpose beyond being the best place for eating a hotdog while 10 yrs old and being the best subject for trivia.
How about this one? Where did the phrase "mind your P's and Q's" originate? ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet Dog lover here....cats beware.
so that is your final answer as the FIRST 1 million album... You might get one more chance...but you'll have to ask Regis Behad in the morning.
Mango and DoD, Sorry, but the Eagles album is not the correct album. The following is from the band in question's web site (Please note, this is paraphrased to keep you from searching the string exactly as written here): ....therefore outsold the standard of the music industry's "Gold Album" award. For this achievment, the band was subsequently awarded The Industry's Very First "Platinum Album"! Ok, tell me when you would like your first clue. Once I say what the uniqueness of the album was, someone should come up with the correct answer. PS. I first read this question on a "Trivial Pursuit" card. Later it was used on Jeopardy.I love that show!! ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet Dog lover here....cats beware. Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida?! I just noticed there are/were multiple Platinum awards. What most of us now consider "Platinum certification" I think is handed out by the RIAA. I wonder who handed this one out? ------------------ Falk that Mo Fo!!! [This message has been edited by Dr of Dunk (edited September 03, 2000).]
BINGO!! Answer this question first, then I have a link for you.... WHat was unique about that album? ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet Dog lover here....cats beware.
The only thing unique I've noticed about it is that it has a 17 minute track on it. The lyrics for 17 minutes are the following : In-a-gadda-da-vida, honey Don't you know that I'm lovin' you In-a-gadda-da-vida, baby Don't you know that I'll always be true Oh, won't you come with me And take my hand Oh, won't you come with me And walk this land Please take my hand Now that just kills me. ------------------ Falk that Mo Fo!!! YES! One side of the album only had one song on it: The famous "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"! Read this: In July of 1968, Iron Butterfly released the monumental LP, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, featuring the 17:05 minute side-long track that shook the entire music industry with its phenomenal reception. 'Vida outsold every record in the history of recorded music within the first year of its release (over eight million copies sold) and therefore outgrew and outsold the standard of the music industry's "Gold Album" award. For this achievment, Iron Butterfly was subsequently awarded: The Industry's Very First "Platinum Album"! This historic award was created and presented by then-president of ATCO Records Ahmet Ertegun, who went on to become the current CEO of the WEA Group. Most recently, 'Vida received the " Multi-Platinum" award. http://www.ironbutterfly.com/bio.htm ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet Dog lover here....cats beware.
DoD: You seem like you have never heard this song. Sure, there are few lyrics, because each band member does a solo during the song. Another tidbit about this song: Even though it is 17 minutes long, it was recorded in it's entirety on the first take! When the band was in the studio, waiting for the producer to arrive, the sound technician asked for a sound check from each band member. Since each member does a solo in the song, they decided to run thru the song for the sound check. When they were done, they all looked at each other and realize they had done it with no mistakes. When they asked the tech to play it back, it was perfect, and they left it like that-the whole process took less than 30 minutes! ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet Dog lover here....cats beware. *cough* *cough*... I'd never heard of the song till today. Seriously. ------------------ Falk that Mo Fo!!!
Wow. I guess the next logical question for me to ask is: How old are you??? Anyway, your turn. What's the next question? ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet Dog lover here....cats beware.
Dunk has heard it... weird though, Cream also claims to have first Platinum in 1968. but they weren't on Jeopardy, so they don't win it. oh...Dunk...your turn with the question. [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited September 03, 2000).]
I'm not waiting on DoD, so here is another one for y'all... Thomas Jefferson once said, "It should be a wall so high you cannot climb over it, so deep you cannot go under it, so wide you cannot go around it, and no windows.' What was he describing? ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet Dog lover here....cats beware.
