I guess that question about the sports franchise going out of business was a little vague, but I thought it was the San Francisco/Oakland Seals of the NHL

NBA championship team without a "top 50" player is the 1979 Seattle Supersonics, although they were coached by Lenny Wilkens, who was on the list...

As for the only commissioner that hasn't died or been fired, that was sort of a trick question...The answer is Bud Selig. When he got officially named Commissioner after being "interim commissioner" for a bunch of years, Bob Costas was interviewing him and mentioned that...

And #1(What is the origin of A-Train's signature?)...At the end of "Another brick in the wall" by Pink Floyd, just before it leads into "Mother"

    uh...behad

1 million copies was surpassed several times over before ????, by several rock n roll albums. That Comets album was number one in the world in 1954 and sold 25 million copies over time. You must have the same source as Popeye. Regardless, I think you lose Regis rights on this one.

Sorry for the confusion, but I am sure the answer is the same as what I know (And have verification [IMG])

behad...OK, you can have Regis rights back. My source says the "album" was considered more a "single" as it was redone many times over by Essex and other producers after hitting #1 in 1953-4 in album form.

    here's my source:

Actual sales figures for "Rock Around the Clock" may never be known with absolute certainty. The most accepted number is 25 million, cited by the "Guinness Book of World Records," on Guinness' based reckoning making it the third highest-selling single of all time, after Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" and Elton John's 1997 tribute to Princess Diana, "Candle in the Wind.". But it should be noted that the John recording was released as a CD single, while "White Christmas" could in no way be considered rock and roll. "Rock Around the Clock" remains the highest-selling vinyl rock and roll recording, Other sales tallies range from 15 million to 35 million copies sold. It is said that at any given minute, the song is playing (or being played) somewhere in the world.

    New Challenge:

Who gave his pipe to the surgeon general in a public ceremony to announce his quitting smoking.

history: the captain of the Rice College bowl team buzzed in (stopping the reader) at the word "pipe" to get this one at the total disbelief of everyone. (SMU knew they were crushed at that point.)

google lands you the answer, but try to guess it.

Mango beat me by about 20 minutes, but he is correct. [IMG]

The first platinum album was by The Eagles.

I had to go to that God-awful RIAA site to find it... [IMG]

    DoD,

I first went to Billboard and they had all of these subscription plans that allowed access to extras including the RIAA stuff.
I sat there for about 5 seconds and decided to dial direct to RIAA and forget Billboard.

    What is the pipe answer?
