Yeah, I'm torn, I dont like Bauer the person at all. I do like being the most hated team in MLB though.
T.Bauer used to live in Houston when he was with Cleveland Indians. Some of you may remember where a car accidently went into the Lotus dealership (old location) showroom near Car Max and hit a car inside the dealership, the car hit was Bauer's Lotus inside the showroom. The connection of non-connection.
I’m not gonna divulge any further but I can confirm with 100% certainty that the Astros will not be signing Bauer. I don’t normally have sources and have never claimed such before, but on this matter I do know from direct contact with a member of the Astros front office that they have no interest in signing Trevor Bauer. This thread should be killed.
The Astros know they are going to get crucified if they sign him and it would be much worse than an Us vs Them/Houston vs The National Media thing like with the cheating scandal. This would piss a lot of Astros fans off in a very serious way. They would only entertain an idea like this if they were just absolutely over the moon desperate for starting pitching, and while they overall are pretty desperate at this point of the season, I don't think they are that desperate for starting pitching.
I have absolutely no sources aside from those who do have sources in this thread, and I can absolutely confirm that Trevor Bauer will not be an Astro. "I SAID GOOD DAY, SIR!!!" - Willy Wonka
And the teams that are even more desperate for starting pitching aren't being linked to him either. Let somebody else make this decision/risk. You'd think the Dodgers would be all over it given what they already invested in him... and they're bullet proof as MLB will do whatever they can to protect Ohtani. But they also want no part of him.
Yup, a brand 'too big to tarnish' like the Dodgers, Yanks, Red Sox, etc., would be better positioned for that kind of play.
This is part of the problem for Bauer ......... he has burnt a lot of bridges in baseball during his career. There are a few players like Mookie Betts that halfway went to bat for him, but there is a REALLY long list of players, managers, general managers and others in the game that have had horrendous interactions with him and his "team" of people. Supposedly his "defense" of what happened to him has swayed some fans to publicly support him, but it has done the opposite in ownership boxes.
Not only will he not be an Astro but his career in MLB is done. No team is willing to go down that rabbit hole and if you have to ask why you haven't been paying attention.
He's addressed it on Twitter and said they don't have any issues with each other. I've never seen any comments from Cole about it.
