http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/doctors-hiv-treat-cancer-17929437 They use a modified HIV to treat cancer cells. It's pretty cool.
OOPS. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=240682 Already posted, man. You're a veteran... you should know better. Clutchfans break news... *also, hotballa posts WEIRD crap.
Wait... I see what you did there... Also, I thought this was rather old. I guess it's hit the mass media stream now.
If I understand it correctly, these are different news. OP is about treating cancer with modificated HIV cells, while the other thread is about curing HIV through stem cells.
On a serious note, I hope they don't end up making some NEW disease that's 10x as potent as the one there trying to cure! ....... ....... .......
wow, thats amazing.. but it leads to this quandry - if we end up using the HIV virus to find a cure for cancer, does that make all the lives lost to AIDS worth it? The potential is there to save hundreds of millions of lives for the rest of existence at the cost of the 25million who have died from AIDS? thats a tough question
I wouldn't say that is a "cost". More, using something bad for good, if you see AIDS as something mankind inherited and was going to deal with no matter what.
I read this some time ago, and it's absolutely amazing. What a brilliant idea, and even better - it worked!
On the flipside, cancer treatment of some HIV patients cured the HIV: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/...nsplant_n_3540295.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular
No it doesn't lead to this "quandry." No one is trying to "cancel out" lives lost or justify any cost. They're making lemons when life has given lemonade. It's not like they invented it to cure cancer.
My lord, don't let Swoly see this post! There aren't enough smilie icons to contain his church lady-esque judgment for such an offense.
well that's embarrassing. clutchfans' resident pedant exhibiting some awfully poor reading comprehension.
