wrong. he is complaining that there has been a media fuss. a fuss that has allowed the story and the incident to come to light. racism, stand your ground, et al., are just facets to this unfolding story. i don't think anyone on this board has convicted zimmerman. we all just want to see justice. the floridian cops appear as if they were content to just let it go, right?
I agree with the article that there is media bias to this story. They've already convicted Zimmerman without really knowing the facts. Problem is the facts are incomplete because the cops were incompetent, they didn't do their job and that should be the real story. Trayvon wasn't exactly a guy with high character, getting suspended for whatever reason shows some sort of behavioral issues. But the same can be said of Zimmerman who has gotten into physical altercations, with I believe a police officer. I also don't know why people can't see that a 17 year old weighing 140 pounds can be a physical threat to even a 240 pound man. I've gotten into physical play fights with people much older than me when I was in my late teens, I would take them out quite easily.
No. He's talking about a larger societal issue, that's always been present tobsome degree, but that's been inflamed for political advantage the past three years by those who insist that any criticism of the president is somehow racist, and by the opportunism/ ineptitude of obama himself, seeking to captitalize on incidents involving whites/ blacks.
If Trayvon were Asian, the whole drama would have lasted three days tops. Instead we have this giant nonstop circus going around.
yes, basso, racism is a problem in this country. yes, politicians are slimy. yes, the police ****ed up. yes, there are stupid people. damn, you love moving goalposts.
This is very true. I said the some thing in the other thread. You wouldn't have had Sharpton, Farrakhan, Jackson, etc. etc.
If he were Asian with a hoodie, Zimmerman would have thought he was a ninja and would have never shot at him. Because ninjas can dodge bullets.
Don't do the whole "tip jar" argument. You have a grip of posts that are mostly out of frustration in your own life. You haven't contributed anything to Clutchfans except the proof that ignorance and offensive racial undertones continue to exist.
lol you found it necessary to swoop in and drop some insults on me? again, when you have to resort to insults, you've lost any argument. I'll be the bigger man and not respond in kind.
The only thing that has regressed even more is political partisanship. People of all colors are outraged at both the police handling of the case, the built-in double standards of our society and stereotypes of young black men. MOST PEOPLE just want the facts to come out. With 24 hour news coverage in whatever flavor you prefer, we tend to be impatient. With that being said, without the parents going to the media, the FL DA's office would have swept this under the rug. Guys like Quannel X, Sharpton and Farrakhan do more damage than good to race relations. But the right-winged media sources and posters on here seem to rally around the "Stand Your Ground Statute" as some holy ground that should not be touched because liberals don't like it. The only reason Zimmerman isn't in custody at this point is because of the vague language of the law. It is wrong to assume guilt, but it's also wrong to assume that he is 100% innocent with the lead homicide officer recommending that he be taken into custody and charged as he had doubts in Zimmerman's story. This isn't about color. This is about partisanship and people choosing sides based on their "team."
What further investigations? They were wrapping it up. Can you explain why Zimmerman's father said that George NEVER followed Trayvon, but on the 911 call George said he was following him? No witnesses, no testimony from a dead kid with skittles who was an "a-hole" before George even approached him.
The testimony of some witnesses matches some of the evidence the police looked at. They didn't bother checking Travon's phone records or talking to the last person to actually speak with Trayvon who's come forward with what she heard happen. The police told other witnesses to change their statements, and wouldn't take further statements from some witnesses who's stories didn't match Zimmerman's.
