I've posted what will happen -- the trial is about a week away.

Also to clarify Hurricane Carter was not a triple murderer. He was a man wrongly convicted of murder who eventually got out because of the wrongful conviction.

Nope, sorry Ref, rappers made music about it, so it will definitely happen.

I never said anything would definitely happen but you seem to think that nothing will definitely happen.

I've asked you to explain the difference between ready to riot and that something won't definitely happen. I haven't seen it yet.

Imagine you are ready to go swimming. Will it definitely happen or definitely not happen?

It will almost always definitely happen. I wouldn't get ready unless I was actually going to go. A sudden lightening storm or family tragedy could change my plans.

So what you were saying is that black communities would riot unless a freak act of nature or huge tragedy stopped them? Is that accurate?

No. We've met the limitations of analogies. I considered eating, sleeping and taking a crap before settling on swimming.

The point is that getting ready does not indicate that something, for certain, will or will not happen.

Rioting is much more spontaneous than going swimming so readiness is more about a state of mind.

So black people were in a state of mind to riot is what you were saying?

I'm really trying to understand what you meant.

I'm disappointed in FB.... I was so sure that he was going to accuse Giddyup of racially stereotyping black people as poor swimmers.

IIRC, I said "groups of people."

That doesn't mean everybody or even everyone of some sub-group. It simply means enough for the authorities to be alerted and concerned.

I haven't accused giddy of anything but what his own words say.

What you said specifically called out race as the only descriptor.

Lets make both individuals the same race. Either Hispanic, white or black. Would the chl holder be found guilty, with only the information the media reported on. Never mind, the media would of not been covering this case to this extent if both individuals were the same race. Any ways, would the individual who shot the other be guilty or innocent removing the difference of race of course.

The second paragraph describes the preferred (relative to concerns about riots) outcome. It ran in favor of OJ and in favor of Trayvon. Both are black but one is seemingly completely guilty and the other died a tragic death.

The concern only ran one way. There was no fear that the Barbie Blondes would riot if OJ was found NOT GUILTY.

This was only three years after the 1992 LA-Rodney King riots.

At this point, I don't find the races interesting in the case. I find the Zimmerman trial interesting because of the undue complications manifested by the stand your ground law. The legislators caused this trouble. If both parties had a duty to retreat, it would be a bit more simple a case of who threw the first punch. Because they both had the right to stand and fight, it's really hard to say who instigated it. I think it's a great case to highlight the folly of the law. Unfortunately, everybody focuses on the part they can't control -- the trial's outcome -- and ignores the part they can control -- legislation. If Zimmerman is acquitted (I think he will be) or if he's convicted, don't riot, write to your congressman and tell him Stand Your Ground sucks.

Totally agree with this statement! Unfortunately I think there will
be some repercussions if he is acquitted. There is always a vigilante
who wants to be the Angel of Justice.
