The grand jury procedure is often skipped, and often the DA makes the decision on their own. The concept of the grand jury is becoming less popular.

She needed to stop other people from cashing in on her sons name so she trademarked it. But it's good that your instinct is to be suspicious and scrutinize the decisions of the family whose son actually died while giving the benefit of the doubt to a guy who shot a teenager.

    It's not instinct, it's reasoning.

I was not suspicious; that motive on her part was announced.... by her or her attorney, I suppose.

George Zimmerman's current need is beyond question; he has had groups place bounties on his head. He can't work; he can't show his face. He will likely face some kind of prosecution.

BTW, he may have shot that teenager in self-defense. It looks like the investigators still think so.... six weeks after the fact.

It's too funny that you've already convicted him in your mind and you allege that I'm the suspicious and scrutinizing one.

Guilty or not...I don't believe in a neighborhood watch person roaming around the neighborhood packing heat. It gives one a boost in personal power that makes you think you can take on situations you normally wouldn't if you didn't have the gun. Then, something like this happens. Would he have confronted this guy if he wasn't packing? I doubt it. He would have called 9-1-1 and waited for the cops to arrive in all likelihood. But, he had the gun and went all vigilante justice at that point like he was mentally in a Tom Cruise film utilizing pre-crime data. He set himself up for this type of outcome by the decisions he made. You think the rest of us have never been in a neighborhood where peoples' homes were broken into? Moral to story...mind your own f_king business and let the cops handle it unless there is a crime happening and you feel like jumping in like a cowboy with a gun to play hero in which case anything goes (or you have no choice but to defend yourself or your property).

That one of the issues -- he wasn't on watch when he shot Tray -- he had just run an errand like Martin going to the store for snacks.
    _____

My neighbor's home was just robbed and I was the first to see the house had been broken into and called 911. After everything settled down law enforcement told me and the home owner to report anyone suspicious in the neighborhood. GZ may have been told the same thing at some point -- I don't believe anyone honestly thinks GZ was chasing Tray down to kill him because he was black.

There is an intense investigation going on right now and I truly believe that they will produce accurate results. Until they break down what happened nobody on the outside has a clue what really happened.

Well, unfortunately for Zimmerman, he decided to go talk to Sean Hannity and share stuff with him that he wouldn't share with his legal defense. So they dropped him as a client.

    http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/george-zimmermans-legal-team-withdraws-council

George Zimmerman’s legal team announced on Tuesday afternoon that they are withdrawing their counsel. “We have lost contact with him, we are not sure what he’s doing,” the lawyers said.

    http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/lawyers-zimmerman-spoke-off-record-with-sean-hannity

George Zimmerman’s former legal team on Tuesday said Zimmerman spoke off the record with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. The lawyers said Zimmerman told Hannity things that he would not tell them.

He made need a legal defense, but oddly, it doesn't seem to be his priority at the moment.

He may not have been on watch but as soon as he went into crime fighting mode he essentially put on this neighbordhood watch cape in my book...which was a bad idea considering he was packing. I believe he will do some time for manslaughter. It may not have been premeditated or intentional. But, I do believe he wouldn't confront the guy without the gun and that is where he made a bad decision. All he had to do was stay in his car and wait on a cop to show up. It may not have seemed like it to him at the time...but he made a decision that should have some consequences attached to it. It's unfortunate he is no longer free to show his face anywhere. I believe he didn't think his actions through and acted in the heat of the moment with no intent to shoot someone. But, his actions opened the way for the outcome by a.) carrying a gun and b.) confronting Trayvon walking down the street . He had to defend himself from a situation he instigated...which is not true self defense in my book. Therefore, I think he will get a lighter sentence for manslaughter.

what evidence has been released that suggests he approached mr. martin? i made some judgements about this case from the first day, but that was wrong, and i won't make the same mistake. until all of the evidence is released you can not put guilt on either side.

    1) carrying a gun is not illegal
    2) confronting someone on the street is not illegal
    3) battering someone IS illegal
    a) who struck first?

i am more outraged at the media's version of the story. from the get go they spun this for their ratings. black vs white when in fact it was black vs hispanic. kid vs man when in fact it was a young man vs a man. martin was attacked first. no evidence has been released that proves or even suggests that. they made sweeping judgements and essentially condemned this man before he was given a trial

i do believe he should have been arrested, but from what i just overheard from my boss and a policy analyst florida law requires that they must prove at the scene that someone acted unlawfully in order for them to arrest them, or rather they must disprove zimmerman's statement that he was attacked first. not 100 % positive they were talking about florida law or texas' castle doctrine, but i am pretty sure it was regarding florida's law. so that could be why he wasn't arrested.

it is a difficult line you cross when you think someone should be arrested when they havent been proven or even suggested to be guilty. you cant make a guy work the system from behind, that is to have someone arrested and prove their innocense. this is the united states, one of our basic tenants is that you are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. not the other way around.

despite that, if someone shoots someone, and the evidence does not blatantly shout self defense, i.e. no witnesses on the street, than he/she should be disarmed, handcuffed, and escourted to the police station for further questioning. but like i said, it is a difficult line you try not to cross.

I agree - it didn't have to happen and GZ will probably face MS charges at the minimum.
