COLUMBIA, S.C. — A hospital spokeswoman says former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and a popular disc jockey have been critically injured in a Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four people.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. She says the plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road.

Hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits says Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were at a burn center in Augusta, Ga.

Federal officials say two crew members and two passengers have been killed.

Terrible. (the crash) I know it seems miniscule compared to what's gone on here the past week, but it's still horrible. :(

Sad to hear my brother has done music with him and he is a great guy. During Katrina Travis donated over one ton of clothing for victims.

    Sad to hear.

I really hate this guys drumming. I never understood why his Hi-Hats are rasied up so much. Makes no sense.

On Wikipedia, it says that he Barker sustained burns from waist down and is expected to survive. It says that DJ AM sustained burns to the face.

I think he is one of the better drummers in any music nowadays. Mainly because he is so versatile. I have really been digging his post-Blink stuff alot.

Hope he has a speedy recovery and condolences to those that died. I hope they find out exactly what happened.

Wikipedia also said Shanna Moakler died in the crash which is not true.

He isn't even close. I might give you pop music because most drumming is so limited in that genre but he is not very well accepted in the drumming world as a virtuoso.

I agree, try being a jazz drummer, now that takes talent and skill.

having said that, still pretty sad, I hope he survives.

So that'd make DJ AM and Barker the only survivors if the plane had 6 people and 4 died?

I found this on one of the gossip sites I frequent, so I'm not sure if it's 100% true, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

Tragic Twist In Jet Crash -- Why They Flew

Posted Sep 20th 2008 8:00PM by TMZ Staff

Travis Barker's assistant wanted to get home in time for his pregnant wife to give birth.

We've now learned why Barker and his friends decided to get on that doomed Learjet in South Carolina late last night, and the explanation can only be described as a horribly cruel twist of fate.

It all started some time yesterday, when Barker's assistant, Chris Baker, told the guys that his wife was going into labor. Barker told him that he would do everything in his power to get Baker back to the hospital in time.

The quickest way back to Van Nuys was that Learjet. We're told Barker usually won't fly on private jets, but made an exception for what was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of Baker's life.

The plane crashed shortly after midnight, killing four people -- including Chris Baker. Baker's wife went into labor early this morning. Baker has another young child as well.
