Glad you didn't kill yourself. Life is too much fun to die... Glad you found grace and salvation in traveling.. NO MATTER HOW HARD IT GETS NEVER KILL YOURSELF!
Never forget the bubble you were in. As the glow fades, re-ignite the fire. Take care. And keep exploring.
Thanks for sharing. From suicidal to feeling happy about leaf blowing. Amazing and wonderful. Your letting go of everything makes much sense, intellectually.
So glad you are doing better. Unfortunately, there are some people who are doing the whole Christianity thing wrong (as a previous post referred to). I can't imagine being born and raised in the middle of that. They have the wrong idea of it, if they're going to give up on a person or end the relationship just because the person disagrees with them. And, while I love my country and haven't been very far outside of it, I'm not going to believe that we necessarily do everything the best. Glad you got some perspective on the world - being informed never hurts, and perspective never hurts. Hopefully this leads to a lot of possibilities for you. Would you consider applying for jobs in other cities? (Or even jobs with a substantial travel component.) It sounds like a fresh start might be good. I can't imagine living in one town or state my whole life.
Thanks so much for your post, faust! I am thrilled that you had a change of heart. As Rashmon said, make sure to get some help for any underlying issues - no one will think less of you for it. As far as your points on traveling go, I couldn't agree more. I am working in Shanghai for a summer internship, and the experience has been amazing. Each weekend, I have gone to a different city in China and seen all of the main sites. I highly recommend to all of the university students on here to take the opportunity to study/work abroad for a summer or a full semester. It is definitely worth every penny, and there are scholarships to help you pay for it.
