not all parts of china are polluted. the mountains and forests in sichuan and yunnan provinces, for instance, are pristine. and even the major cities, it really just depends on when you go and perhaps what the winds are like. i spent almost a week in beijing one time and the skies were clear blue and air absolutely clean the whole time.
