Ha! I meant "Arkansas" . Damn you, "A" states...! SWTsig, LOL. That would work. It all started from a few friends of Mrs. SwoLy and also her mom recommending the themed parks and then, upon further investigation, me finding out it's a shorter drive THERE than to the Grand Canyon. Trust me, I know it's not THE BEST out there, but it was a consideration and now a major reality. I was also considering other national parks, but we only have one week to go. I'm already taking the family to Monterrey for a weekend after I take Mrs. SwoLy to Vegas < whisper >shhhhh! it's a secret</ whisper > next week. Like I said earlier, in years past we've done the major themed Disney parks, the Sea Worlds, but we wanted to go out of the state for a water park and some more entertainment. We knew that my 7 and 9-year-olds won't really appreciate the Grand Canyon as much as we adults would. Here's what would have gone down (replace BOY with 2 girls ): Spoiler
What you can do is go to the Six Flags website and check out the locations...see if one of the locations appeal to you.
Kids 7 and 9 will have a lot of fun at SDC. They should be able to ride all the rides (a problem for kids that age at most theme parks) and there are some pretty good ones (this coming from a guy that's been to over 30 theme parks). They have a good mix of water and thrill rides so you can get wet and dry off on a hot day. Plus it's not as crowded as other theme parks (usually). They might also enjoying feeding the fish at the hatcheries - more fun for kids than you'd think for a cheap couple of hours. With kids that age, I think you'll have fun.
You MUST ride the Ducks... right on the main strip in town... It's cheesy, but it's a good memory maker... http://www.bransonducks.com/ We went two years ago as a family to Branson.. may go this year for the anniversary...
