Tell me about it. I went to jail when I videotaped myself having sex with a 13-year old girl. :D

I see your point. I can see how you might think that R Kelly is innovative. However, peeing on little girls is hardly new......people have been doing it for years!

Although you are right, I don't care for R-n-B music. But please, don't hate just because I hate, then talk about hate. By hate-in on my hate, you're just spreading the hate into more hate. After all, hate spreads hate, and we don't want too mush hate-in on the BBS. Peace to all. Long live R Kelly and his quality, innovative, new, fresh, wonderful tapes, and music type videos!!

[cliche]if r.kelly dreams about being as talented as john legend (or brian mcknight) he better wake up and apologize[/cliche] Seriously...I don't think he's in that class of musicians.

Brian McKnight great too, forgot to include him. Why don't you think kels is up there...dude has been making hits and great albums since the early 90's...He has lasted over 13 years and has made old school musicians popular to younger generations (the Isley Brothers), has made hits that everyone can enjoy regardless of age, gender, religion, class...he's one of the few artists who have songs that women drool over while men can proudly bump it in their systems and even "church going people" can listen to. The guy transcends musical genres. Say what you want about his personal life, it's easy to make fun of, but his professional career is legit and up there with the greats of R-n-B (he would make marvin gaye proud).

lol, funny you mention Usher and my alleged hate for R-n-B music. i don't listen to alot of R-n-B, but if you search for a thread in this forum titled something like "What's the best album in the last ten years", i specifically typed Usher's Confessions along with Megadeth's Blackmail the Universe. i can acknowledge good music when i hear it even if it's not my preference. AND this song is utter sh**.

You're entitled to your opinion even if it is wrong so we'll just "agree to disagree".

Usher's "Confessions" is a really good album but NOT the best album in the last ten years.

Hits don't make one good, you're right on that, but Britney has not been around for over a decade making GREAT albums and she lacks lyrical skills, production skills, has NO soul to her voice, and has not been inovative at all. Kels is among, if not the best, R-n-B artist in the last 10+ years. He even takes songs are already very good and makes them great (see his remixes, they take really good songs to another level).

anyone who doubts the musical abilities of r kelly needs to listen to happy people or weatherman. soulful stuff!

if he wasnt so raunchy the dude could be a cross b/t marvin gaye and stevie wonder.

in my opinion, he is a musical genius (and he's laughing all the way to the bank).

if he's a musical genius, then we ought to be hearing that in his music. i don't hear that. i'm not exactly the A-1 music critic...but I don't hear it.

i do from guys like mcknight and legend.

his talent is on the production side
    like Dre
    not on the lyrics/singing side

I mean dre got hits [he did not even really write all his lyrics]
that he rhymed on . . but i would never say he is a great rapper

    he is a great PRODUCER
I feel the same about R Kelly
His production so strong .. . weak/ig'nant lyrics don't matter

    I did a poll .. . last year i think
nearly 80+% of the people on here admitted
lyrics do not matter anywhere near as much as the music/rhythm etc

so you can do 10 little indian boys over a jamming beat
and it will be a hit

    Have you heard:

    "I can't sleep Baby" (original & remix)
    "I Wish" (original & remix)
"Step In The Name Of Love" (original & remix)
    "Heart Of A Woman"
    "Your Body's Callin'"
    "Homie Lover Friend"
    "Bump N' Grind"
    "Love Street"
    "When A Woman's Fed Up"
    "One Man"
"If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time"
    "Downlow" (original & remix)
    "Storm Is Over Now"
    "Religious Love"
    "Intro - The Sermon"

Those are only a few of them that have great lyrics. These don't include songs he has written for other artists like M. Jackson and Maxwell. I agree he has tackee songs that are complete BS, "party songs" that help sell CD's and play on the radio but overall his material is excellent. Each album is different and has different sounds to it. The "Chocolate Factory" album has a 70's sound to it, an old school vibe about. Everyone has their taste in music I guess, just sickens me that real good artists like K. West, R kels, Common and so forth are discredited and $hitty ones like Mike jones, paul wall, Zero, and most of what u hear on 97.9 are propped up. Those guys have no kind of talent whatsoever...they have catchy beats with a bunch of bullcrap lyrics, yelling and screeming like crazy people and getting recognized as good music. If I hear another "What?" or "Yeah?" or "how much bling I have in my teeth" one more time I am going to go postal.

r kelly's talent lies in being able to do it all. he's like prince - he does it all, and does it all well. he writes, performs, sings and produces all his own music.

and yes, alot of his lyrics are totally rediculous but its not like he has the monopoly on that.

how can you not like heart of a woman, where he says...

W-O-M-A-N (yes, he spells it out)

sometimes i think that we the reason why yall be stressin' out and smokin' cigarettes...mmm, yes i do.

and sometimes i think that we the reason why yall be snappin' of on yo kids...and havin' fits

and ladies, when its that time of the month, and yall really dont feel like being bothered

sometimes, we take yall hearts for granted...i know sometimes yall just gotta ax yallselves, "why do i even put up with it"

and even though he has rediculous lyrics, they are still great songs. heart of a woman is a primo slow-jam.

again, check out "happy people" or "weatherman" to get a better idea of what the guy is capeable of. great 70's soul sound, absence of raunchy lyrics, great production and arrangements.

r kelly is an american treasure!

OMFG, I watched that R Kelly performance on tv yesterday, I was dying of laughter. If you haven't watched it, they play part of the video, I didn't see where it started but it seemed they were cutting through it up to the part where Chuck, the gay lover shows up. Then R Kelly acts out the scene on stage by himself. He's not singing, he just acts out the actions and pretends to speak when the dialogue parts of the song hit. It gets to the part where he calls home and hears another man pick up his phone and rushes out and then he continues with what happened in the apartment after he left. I don't know if that's been on radio or on his cd. Oh the soap opera drama, it's still making me chuckle.

You need reasons? The song is stupid.

Did you see him lip sing that song on the VMA's, I can't believe MTV let him do that, that was just a waste of valuable air time.
