not the child, the adults subjecting the child to it

I would not call Rachel Levine a freak to his face unless he asked what I thought of him.

Seeing men dressed in women's clothing is abuse?

Because in the USA there is no dress code. Nothing that says a man can't wear a skirt or put on makeup in public and yes around kids.

That’s simple. I would draw the line at nudity (showing genitalia), and sex acts both actual and simulated around children.

That wouldn’t just be for drag shows but for any event. For example I wouldn’t have cis strippers perform around children or take children to a performance of O in Vegas.

Just having someone wearing clothes that hat is generally of another gender I wouldn’t say is a particular problem. As a kid I saw a lot of men dressing as a woman. In the 80’s I was a pro wrestling fan and seeing Ric Flair, Jesse Ventura and other men come out with feather boas and fishnet stockings I didn’t consider sexual. Although maybe that’s why I’ve been accused now of being a drag show enthusiast. ;)

I fully support my governor in doing this. I know a few transgender people in Mn and I’ve heard first hand the stigma and flat out abuse they’ve dealt with. They and others should have the ability to pursue their lives as they feel they need to as much as anyone else can.

    Two other points.
    1. Im not surprised that a thread about transgender is also talking about drag but dressing in drag is not the same as transgender. Many drag performers aren’t transgender nor are they even gay. Some even have heterosexual marriages. They consider themselves performers and are playing roles as much as other actors. This is again conflating two things to muddy the issue.

    2. I will say it again that judging someone to be a bad person by merely how they identify is bigotry. Saying that someone merely by how they dress and that the mere presence of someone in someone in drag is abuse is bigotry.
Transgender people and people who dress in drag are no more prone to being good or evil than anyone else. A man wearing a dress and eyeliner is no less prone to abuse a child than a man with a beard in a three piece suit. The outward appearance isn’t an indicator of internal character and I don’t know any other word that describes it than bigotry to say that just that mere appearance amounts to abuse.

Why call Levine a freak? If truly believe that transgender people are psychologically damaged, and you have a purported interest in undoing that damage, do you think that insulting them is the best path toward treatment? Why not express empathy for someone you believe is afflicted with something?

I think I agree with this, but also don’t ask someone what they personally think about you if you aren’t able to handle something negative.

There is no doubt that there is demonization of transgender people in this thread

Maybe instead of trying to tell people how they should dress, you guys should focus on stopping child marriages first
