I am on the road so not right now, but it isn't hard to find. I will do it this weekend if I remember. Yes, the studies that we have are self reporting, which have very little value for that reason. I don't think it is nefarious, it is just that it hasn't been viewed as a high priority until recently and we have a drag at this point. I don't think anyone is surprised that transgender people have a higher than average rate of suicide. The question is how high, what are the numbers for kids in gender positive therapy, what are the numbers on hormone blockers and what are the numbers potentially post transition. We don't know any of this information and that is why I am against permanent surgical procedures until they are adults. If we end up having reliable data later, then we can discuss and consider surgical procedures. There is a lot of misinformation out there on both sides. For example, I have heard that transgendered people are the most likely to be the victim of a hate crime and an assault. That isn't true either, the data out there doesn't really differentiate it that way, because we did not typically ask victims of crime if they were transgender. On the left there are some stats that are just not accurate, it is similar to what the left has started doing with statistics and the green movement. The problem is that those on the right, when they hear there are questions about the statistical reliability of somethings, they immediately discredit an entire group of people and in some cases use it to justify oppressive positions. The same issue is happening with social contagion as well. The media will not touch the issue of social contagion because it is so controversial. However, again a self reporting study comes out from an LGBTQ+ organization and the headlines say that it disproves social contagion and that is FALSE. A self reporting study has extremely limited value. It isn't just the left though, the right and the state of Florida has trumpeted the ROGD hypothesis, and that relies on a study of only 250 people and they are the parents of children, and not even the children. This is a subject where very very few facts are known at this time, and neither side wants to admit that - we have one side dismissing the idea that it may be in the best interest of children and society to have transition surgery and to be more inclusive in school and we have another side that is willing to risk the physical health of children without there being proper studies and information on the subject.
