I think a transwoman doesn't understand that cutting your **** off and wearing make up doesn't make you a woman. Which was the videos point.
I think there is some truth to this. I don’t think it is as black and white as it is to you, but it is certainly part of the full puzzle.
Honestly, it sounds like they should be more involved in their children’s lives. It sounds like they are more involved now.
Are there transgender people? Yes. Should transgender people be treated equally? Yes. Should schools discuss transgendered people? Since transgendered people exist, they should be treated like homosexuals, heterosexuals, black people, Hispanic or any other group or classification that exists in society. It shouldn’t be a major part of the curriculum but it should be addressed and acknowledged. We prepare children for the world they will live in as adults and that includes many different types of people. Should children be able to take hormones? No, I don’t think so. There are serious consequences healthy-wise and having adolescents make these choices is troubling and parents are often not in tune with their children. Once they are of age then they can decide. If the research starts showing that this is the wrong decision then I could possibly change my mind but it isn’t strong enough yet. These are my personal opinions. I don’t mind someone having their gender legally changed once they have transitioned, but medically it needs to be denoted that they are post trans because it changes treatment in some cases. Being socially a woman and biologically a woman are not the same thing and I have seen both extremes push back on this… there are trans advocates that do not like the term female because it differentiates a biological woman and a transgender woman… and on the other extreme are those that do not acknowledge there is any difference between gender and sex… which there is. These are just my opinions at this point in time and I am far from an expert. I’m sure my opinions will change as more information is known. The only thing I do know is that transgendered people are people and need to be treated with respect.
Nothing @fchowd0311 is accurate. He's a guy who has isolated himself from any and all social interaction and hates the world. I value your opinion but don't attach yourself to anything that idiot says
I agree with most of that. I would still carve out an exception that hormone treatment for youth shouldn’t be outlawed but only considered after a lot of counseling and discussion. I think where the alternative is someone might commit suicide if they feel so disassociated from their body hormone and other treatment should still be available. It definitely shouldn’t be rushed into.
Schrodinger's bigot: @AroundTheWorld just wants trans folks from indoctrinating children and doesn't care about adult lifestyles yet always likes content completely dismissing the existence of them and even flat out says that trans people shouldn't exist.
I also agree, but for the sake of advancing the discussion, I wonder what "rushed" actually means. In most cases, trans patients undergo a gamut of tests and psych evals that spans years. On the surface, a teen that has had 3 years of gender affirming therapy and is on the waitlist for ga surgery before turning 18 isn't "rushed". Given the subjectivity of how "rushed" things can be interpreted, and how kids going through puberty aren't on a level state of mind, would denying a suicidally depressed patient of gender reassignment a few months or years before they legally become an adult really be a grave mistake? They're still receiving mental health and likely drug treatment in the meanwhile. In these cases, when more and more studies shows a human mind is generally fully developed around 21, I'd rather err on waiting. Suicide prevention is a serious matter, but not being able to wait for adulthood that's a few years away generally reflects an environment that likely won't accept their status regardless of gender reassignment.
On that point I agree, but in my personal opinion, a biological woman that chooses to live socially as a non-woman is a sick woman.
“Rushed” is a subjective term and I admit I don’t know much about the process and what is accepted policy for a youth to get hormone and other physical treatments to transition. If it is already standard practice that extensive counseling is already required I would support that.
