Are there any other Girl Dad's out here? If so, how cool is it when you see your daughter kick a$$ in her sport when she's playing her boy cousins or whatnot?? My daughter has boy cousins that come stay the summer with us, and we always go play soccer and basketball with them. There is nothing that comes close to that high as a father watching my daughter take the challenge to play against older girls, or in some cases boys. If in Junior High or High School there was one kid that was trans on the other team I couldn't care less. I know my kid will be good enough to compete against anyone at her level.
I'm not sure what you're arguing then. I mean yes when trans women were males they were part of the patriarchy (by definition) any advantages they got from that would've been wiped out once they transitioned. By that same reasoning then once trans males had transitioned they benefit from the patriarchy. If anything then in regards to being trans the patriarchy would appear to be a wash as an issue.
I believe that was addressed by barring her from competing unless she would take stuff to lower the testosterone levels. It's a more difficult case than if someone transitions from their biological sex, because she is just competing in her biological sex group.
No, any advantage they had is not wiped out when they transition. They were raised as men, they have the entitlement that males have. Just because they transition doesn't change their past or values they learned. Are they treated like women and deal with that discrimination once they transition? Yes, if most of society cannot tell they were born male...... but that past isn't erased. Also, to be clear, transgender people face their own unique problems as well. Someone that is born and raised as a woman is treated by the world as a female, and that strongly influences how they see the world going forward. It is like someone being born and raised poor, just because they make a lot of money as an adult doesn't change the fact they experienced poverty and is colors how they see the world. When someone transitions, they are not a blank slate.
Yes she was barred from compeition unless her testosterone was lowered. That is exactly what trans athletes are doing anyway. Her biological sex still didn't prevent her from being born with a huge natural advantage just like Brittany Griner was born with the huge advantage of being tall.
OK I think I get what you're saying. You're talking about internal mentality rather than how society treats them. I can see your point there that a trans women probablfy has a different internal mentality than a trans women. Any advantage or sense of entitlement they might feel though is heavily countered by how much social stigma they receive.
Yes. Which is what I mean when I say still being influenced by the patriarchy and why the majority of those arguing are male to female. Someone raised and treated as a women growing up had a different set of challenges. As far as what is right or wrong when it comes to transgender rights - my point is that a lot the discourse has to do with M2F, and that impacts women a lot and in ways that few men really understand. So the views of biological women, good bad or indifferent should be a high priority. It is no different on abortion. I seldom hear a woman offer a position of whether men should have the right to condoms or vasectomies..... yet I hear lots of men have opinions on abortion and the morning after pill and birth control pills. We are talking about the bodies or women, and their views should take a higher importance. It all feeds into the idea or entitlement..... male entitlement and to a lesser degree, Western male entitlement that is so engrained that few men are even aware of it.
Dude, trans people get literally kicked out of their own families for being trans. It's an entirely different level of extreme oppression. Don't like playing persecution Olympics but my issue here is the disproportionate nature of trans discourse relative to other issues of more relevant impact creates a situation of creating pariah class. Do you understand this simple concept of disproportionate discourse on the mostly negative impacts of a certain group of people is always the cause of eventual mass murder events like pogroms and the holocaust? Why does the issue of trans people get disproportionate coverage and discourse, mostly negative, than more relevant issues in terms of prevalence and impact? Is this an aspect you ever question?
It really doesn't impact women a lot. The disproportionate level of discourse on the matter relative to impact on society is what is creating this perception for you. And you have to ask yourself why is that occurring? This isn't about "trans rights". It's about a systemic media approach to create a pariah class out of trans people that is more relevant in today's discourse than the actual legislative aspect of "trans rights".
Transgender people being kicked out of their homes has nothing to do with what I stated. I support transgender rights, and nothing I said has anything to with pogroms or the holocaust.
Are you reading my posts in good faith? Actually read what I typed dude. Can you tell me in your own words what my main concern here is?
I don't believe your concern is consistent with what I have posted or stated. I understand your concern, but it wasn't the purpose of my posts and I don't agree with some of your premises. I respect your opinions though.
That it creates a wedge between two disadvantaged groups (which is already there), and that there is a high level of media and negative media attention on transexuals which results in dehumanization and experiences like the holocaust.... and that by engaging people like ATW I am giving them an air of legitimacy.
