Can't help but laugh every time I see "From Director Michael Bay..." in a trailer. Just a bunch of CGI and explosions, but never a good movie.
saw this last night - my theater was handing out Optimus Prime looking 3d glasses which was a nice little touch overall the movie I felt was better than the last 2 transformers movies with shia - a lot of good action - though felt they added much more "humanistic" elements to the robots like Hound - had a beard that moved on its own Crosshairs had something like a trenchcoat Optimus had like a loincloth looking thing? and Drift was a Samurai in robot form but I went to go see action and I saw a lot of cool action
Good to hear The_Yoyo, I know your as big a TFers fan as I am. Looking forward to watching it tomorrow......
geez, this flick is getting hammered on rt. was expecting maybe a 30 to 35, but damn. may just go see 22 jump street instead. does it even do the mindless entertainment right?
I have stopped relying on RT as a source for reviews lately - like 22 jump street got 85% on RT - that movie had its funny moments but not 85% good - there are several other movies I have seen that havent hit 85% on RT that were better than 22 (heck I think the original 21 jumpstreet was lower) critics hate it because its a mindless bay film -- but ever more so since its a 2.5 hour mindless bay film -- way too much action - things blowing up and all but thats what I came to see when I go see transformers.
fair enough and rep. will check out out in a couple of hours. i know what you mean about rt. mi4 ghost protocol reviews were stellar, but was so meh.
Eh, RT is useful if you use it as the aggregate tool it is. Rather than an '85%' movie, it's more that the movie was generally favorably reviewed (if you were on the fence). I mean, I have no doubt the new TF will be as dumb as the other TF movies, so I understand the RT score. on the whole reviewers aren't generally just going to give a lot of points to loud action, which is what I go to see these movies for. I think at this point we all pretty much know what we're going to expect. RT would only have told us if the movie was something we didn't expect.
I thought MI:4 was awesome. But to each his own. I wasn't a fan of the Transformers movies, but I really wanted to go see this one because of the Dinobots. Mark Wahlberg and the RT % score are really making me change my mind though.
IMO rt is very hit or miss, lately I've been using imdb.com. I use a simple system: If it's below 5, the movie will almost DEFINITELY SUCK If its 5.1 < 6.9 it'll be a crapshoot, depends on your personal expectations going in If it's 7 < 7.9, it'll be worth your time, you won't leave feeling disappointed If it's 8+, it's almost DEFINITELY AN AWESOME MOVIE. Transformers is currently at a 6.8, which according to my official scale, it will be a crapshoot.....lol...
It defies belief people judge whether they will watch something based off of a rating system on the internet. Because everyone on the internet has the same likes/dislikes as you - so you're destined to agree with what a website rates a movie? LUUUUUUUUUULZ. Only thing I didn't like about the movie - it took too long to introduce the Dinobots. Will happily watch the next 4 Transformers movies over and over again too.
Well when you're on the fence, it can be a useful tool to decide whether to watch it or not. I'm still on the fence myself...just seems like its another Bay Transformers. Think this might be the first one I wait to see; would much rather spend my money on Snowpiercer instead.
Saw it last night and it was aweful. I thought Marky Mark and Frazier would make it bearable. Didn't happen.
You're aware the audience of this movie is pre-pubescent teenagers? They obviously find these movies awesome... Thus why they'll continue to be made and make mass amounts of money... Which I'm not complaining about. I will amend my previous post - another thing I didn't like about the movie was the constant attempts at comedy... But that goes back to my first sentence.. And me growing older. Still. Anyone who doesn't go into the cinema other than to relax for a couple of hours and watch some action - you're doing it wrong.
Started out promising but there is such a thing as way too much action? Standard bay movie. Makes me worry about the turtles movie.
