    Property sold in Mexico, need the money in houston. Thinking about bringing it myself but I smell trouble, plus 10k over is illegal.

    bitcoins is the cheapest and fastest way to transfer large sums of money between countries. Also you wouldn't need a bank with bitcoins (it is Sunday).

    I wire money all the time for work and usual bank charges are $20 - $40. We use HSBC.

    Amount is usually > $10,000

    I don't think over $10k is illegal. You just have to declare it.
